Shoreline CrossFit Named Top 10 in Nation by Men's Fitness

On Jan. 29, Men's Fitness named its "Top 10 CrossFit Gyms in America."

With 5,000+ CrossFit facilities throughout the country, the list was full of big-

name cities including San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, Austin and

Branford Restaurants Among CT Magazine's Best

Connecticut Magazine's February issue showcased its "Best Restaurants

2013: Experts' Picks" feature and Branford restaurants were well-

represented throughout the 26 categories. The magazine gave five

restaurants the "Best of" title in each of the 26 categories, plus several

Everything Mike Higgins says now is calculated. It has to be. In a political

environment where gun control has become the main topic of discussion on

most news networks, Higgins is feeling the heat for planning to open a

sporting goods shop near the Branford Green, which happens to sell

shooting sports equipment, including guns. Hes also getting support from

Panera Bread or McDonalds in Branford? You Decide [POLL]

At last weeks Planning & Zoning Meeting, Fusco-Shiller Branford Associates

presented plans to tear down the former Friendlys Restaurant, erect a bank

in its place and add another building in the plaza to house a fast-food

restaurant. According to P&Z chairman Ellsworth McGuigan, the fast-food

restaurant could be a Panera Bread or a McDonalds. They are seriousabout this Panera Bread, he told Patch last week adding that several sites

have been named as possible places to put a Panera Bread in Branford. We

Squashing Rumors: Ballous Is NOT Closing

After six months in business here in Branford, Ballous Wine Bar owner Steve

Kaye said hes run into a little problem, though its not with the success of his

business. I guess there are a lot of rumors floating about Ballou's in

Branford that we are looking to sell, said Kaye, who also has Ballous Wine

Bar in Guilford. This is certainly FALSE; we do not have the business up for

Saturdays are about to get a whole lot more soulful at G-Zen. Starting this

weekend, owners Mark Shadle and Ami Beach Shadle will begin serving a

Saturday-only brunch at their popular vegan restaurant located at 2 East

Main Street in Branford. "We're smashing the stereotype of the brunch idea,

making it gluten-free, having raw options, and doing the classics," says Ami.

By classics she means bacon and eggs. Only at G-Zen, these brunch staples

are made from tempeh and scrambled tofu. Patrons of the restaurant's

Bill Clark, Senior Vice President of the Geenty Group confirmed that he has

leased the space at 11 Sycamore Way to an apple brandy manufacturer. The

768-square-foot space, managed by Gray Eagle Corp., was last leased by a

construction company reported Clark. It took the apple brandy manufacturer,

Tai Phan Lam, a while to get the space approved, said Clark. Approval to

Lisa Feniola was opening her first online clothing boutique. She told us that

she had hopes to find a brick and mother location for the business but had to
