Climate protectionClimate change is a global problem. By drawing up our corporate carbon footprint we found out just how much CO

2 is produced by our activities, also including the emissions caused by bought-in raw materials, transport, etc. We used our carbon footprint as the basis for developing concepts for CO2 savings. When our products carry this logo you can be sure that we balance unavoidable CO2 emissions by supporting recognised climate protection projects.

A routine affinity with the environmentSustainability is one of the most important topics of our times and is to be found wherever we look – from world politics to everyday living. Have our writing instruments got anything to do with this? Yes - a great deal, in fact. We started to think about resources and environmentally responsible processes a long time ago. As early as 1998, we were the first company in our industry to obtain the EMAS certificate, which has been regularly renewed ever since.

Many elements create a rational overall approachWe really care about the environment and our responsibilities. That‘s why we are always working on new ways to minimise our environmental impact, reducing the use of resources and improving occupational health and safety end general well-being.

Awareness in production: recycling begins in our own factoryFor many years we have ensured that we reuse as much material as possible in production, so that we can now recycle 85 % of our waste production material.

In alliance with nature: solar panels and cooling from our local streamWe get all our power from hydroelectric sources and from the photovoltaic system installed at our plant, as well as our internal co-generation set-up. The stream that flows through our site in Tennenbronn is fed into our cooling system and helps us save energy; naturally the water is perfectly clean when we return it to its source.

Investing to save energy: machines that can do moreWith an investment of around EUR 3 million, we have renewed our fleet of machines with 26 hybrid and fully electric injection moulding machines that feature particularly efficient consumption levels. By using energy-saving computers we have reduced our power consumption by more than half and now also use more efficient flat screens.

A global approach: climate-neutral productsBy measuring our corporate carbon footprint, we have established the basis for identifying the potential for CO

2 savings. This also includes the emissions produced outside our company, caused, for example, by bought-in raw materials and transport. The unavoidable CO2 emissions for the entire Slider series and the Like ballpoint are balanced by our support for a recognised climate protection project.

Discovering new opportunities: rational use of organic plasticsOrganic plastics help conserve mineral oil stocks and reduce greenhouse gases thanks to their lower CO2 emissions. However, the bottom line is quality, as organic products that don‘t work are just a further burden on the environment. That‘s why we intensively research and check to see whether it makes sense to use organically-based plastics.

Practising environmental protection: electric bicycles as work vehiclesMany of our employees choose the green alternative when getting to and from work; our free fleet of company e-bikes now numbers more than 60 and the scheme has won awards from Baden-Württemberg and B.A.U.M. The e-bikes and a company bus, also provided free-of-charge, helps us save approx. 50,000 car kilometres per year.

The principle of responsibility: fair working conditions, fair trade, made in GermanyAs a company, we are aware of our shared social responsibilities. Because we develop and produce in Germany, we can also ensure that we comply with Germany‘s stringent ecological and social standards. We are constantly working to improve our working conditions. We require our suppliers to sign up to a declaration in relation to the protection of humane working conditions.

Refills for ballpoint pens“The good Schneider refill” has been a synonym for ballpoint pen refills and is readily available in specialist stores everywhere. Most Schneider refills are fitted with wear-resistant stainless steel tips. It guarantees that the large ink reserve can be used without leaving any residue and without any smear marks. Virtually all the promotional ballpoint pens can be optionally fitted with the following refills. The refills with Viscoglide® technology ensure exceptionally easy, gliding writing.

Technical dataArtworkIn order to perfectly create your imprint motifs and logos in accordance with your concepts on the selected promotional pens we need you to submit best quality artwork. In order to minimise your preparations we offer the following guidelines. There are three ways to submit your artwork:

1. Digital Data

The best alternative in the submission of artwork is to send it in the form of data or graphical data. Basically two categories exist within digital graphics:

Vector GraphicsIn vector graphics the individual stet of a graphic is built up from the basic elements such as curves, lines and then saved in the form of coordinates and mathematical vectors. This has the big advantage that the corresponding graphics enlarge or reduce without steps and without loss of quality. Additionally vector graphics need a lot less data volume compared to bitmaps.

Some of the more popular vector graphic programs are Corel-Draw (.cdr) and Adobe Illustrator (.ai). These programs as well as EPS or PDF graphics give the best results.Warning: Please note that the original bitmap files that are saved or placed in vector-programs are not vector-graphics and are therefore not suitable to produce final films!

BitmapsThe picture information is saved point by point. The disadvan-tage of bitmaps is that picture enlargements and reductions will result in considerable loss of quality. Artwork in bitmap format can be used, but it should have a resolution of a minimum of 1,200 dpi in reference to the original print size.

The most famous bitmap programs are TIFF, PSD and JPG. Internet graphics (e.g. gif) are not suitable for reproduction of artwork because they usually do not have sufficient resolution for printing.Warning: Bitmap graphics which are saved or placed in Word, PowerPoint or Excel are not suitable!

2. Films

The classic form of the artwork for your imprint motif is a screen or offset-film. It must have the size of 1:1. For multiple colour prints please provide register marks for each film layer in order to fit the colours together. Offset films should not be cut too short. The optimum dimension is 110 x 110 mm, within which the logo is positioned regardless of size.

As we do not know in advance whether or not you need silk-screen or tampon films, electronic data is always advanta-geous and saves further delays.

3. Reproducible Artwork

For producing the process films we need your best quality reproducible artwork, e.g. clear hard copy, good drawings, crisp prints etc. – and please, not too small!Please note that fax and photocopies can’t be used.

Using Fonts in Digital DataIf you use fonts in your digital artwork, we kindly ask you to convert them to curves/vectors or to send the fonts as separate data (True-Type, Open-Type or Type1 Fonts).

In order to receive the best quality of legibility and imprint we recommend a font from 5 dots.

Stroke WidthsThe minimum stroke width for imprinting is 0.15 mm. We cannot imprint thinner stroke widths because of technical conditions.

Imprinting ColoursPlease indicate the required imprinting colours in Pantone or HKS. If we only can use a printed model we try to meet the colours to 100%, but without guarantee.

For imprints on coloured bodies we recommend the preimprint of a white field in order to receive a better covering of the following imprinting colours. Without this pre-imprint colours can differ from the requirement.

Possibilities for TransmissionYou can send us your imprinting data via E-mail or on CD/ DVD. If you wish to send us your files via E-mail please attach the data to your E-mail-client as an enclosure and indicate in your E-mail the program in which you have estab-lished the data. Together with all the other relevant information please send your E-mails to: [email protected]
