NOVEMBER 20, 2019 SOCIAL HOUR - 4:30 PM; TALK - 5:00 PM RUSTY’S PIZZA – 111 STATE ST, SANTA BARBARA EL MUYUYO, ECUADOR COMMUNITY WATER PROJECT: A PRESENTATION WITH EWB-SBV HOSTED BY ASCE El Muyuyo is a small rural Ecuadorian farming community that was impacted by a powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake in 2016, which damaged existing water infrastructure. From August 25th to September 1st, 2019, four volunteers from EWB- SBV traveled from Santa Barbara to coastal Ecuador to meet with local community leaders and collect data to assess current water issues and needs in EWB-USA is a nonprofit humanitarian organization established to support community-driven development programs worldwide through partnerships that design and implement sustainable engineering projects. ____ Did you know that an estimated 748 million people worldwide currently lack access to clean drinking water? ____ The 805’s local professional chapter of Engineers Without Borders is currently working on a project to help bring clean drinking water to 63 families living in the rural farming community of El Muyuyo in the Manabí province of Coastal Ecuador. ____ FOR MORE INFORMATION ON CURRENT AND PAST PROJECTS VISIT WWW.EWB-SBV.ORG
