In partnership with Essentials of Brain Injury Services and Supports Rachel Anderson, MSN, RN I am a nurse leader passionate about ensuring quality care across the continuum provided by an engaged and energetic team. Since beginning my nursing career, I have observed the most effective method to achieving positive outcomes is through effective communication and organization. “Brain Injury: The Maze that Lead to Unexpected Outcomes” This session will describe brain injury from the lived experience of a health care professional who has navigated many of the common, and some of the not so common sequela (effects). Objectives: Identify 10 lessons for professionals when working with someone with brain injury Describe why timing of brain injury rehabilitation is important using Orem’s Theory of Self-Care and Self-care Deficit Theory Using the discussed manifestations of unmet neuropsychological needs, participants should be able to begin program design and delivery for individuals with brain injury Target Audience: Case Managers, counselors, professionals, and those who have experienced brain injury, families or educators.
