24-25 June 2017 Schools across Cambridge and the surrounding area are invited to take part in an exciting art competition, coinciding with Cambridge BRAINFest at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. The original artwork can be inspired or informed by various aspects of the brain and new discoveries in neuroscience. A number of prizes will be awarded in different age group categories and artwork will be selected for display at Cambridge BRAINFest in the Corn Exchange. inyears.ItisanexcitingopportunitytoshowcasewhatisbestaboutNeuroscienceinCambridge.We

havechosentohostitintheCornExchangetomaximisetheaccessibilityandexposureoftheevent

tothegeneralpublic,visitingdignitariesandthepress!

AspartofCambridgeBRAINFest,wewillholda‘BrainArtCompetitionandExhibition’thatwillbeopentostudentsacrossCambridge.

Togeneratesomeenthusiasmfortheproject,neuroscientistsfromtheUniversityofCambridgewill

offertovisityourschooltogiveashorttalkaboutthebrainandtheprojectwiththeaimbeingto

inspirethestudentstocreateoriginalbrainart.

CambridgeBRAINFestisacelebrationofneuroscienceresearchatCambridgeandwearelookingfor

artworkthatisbroadlybrain-related.Theoriginalartworkcanbeinspiredorinformedbyvarious

aspectsofthebrainandnewdiscoveriesinneuroscience. Thiscouldincludestructuralrepresentationofthebrainoritscomponentparts(e.g.singlebraincells),throughtoportrayalsof

thebehaviouralaspectsofbrainfunctionanddysfunction(fromthesenses(e.g.painandpleasure,

perceptionandimagination)toportrayalsofdementia,depressionorstroke,forexample).

Anumberofprizeswillbeawardedindifferentagegroupcategories(1st,2nd,3rdandmerits)and

artworkwillbeselectedfordisplayatCambridgeBRAINFestforthedurationofthefestivalinthe

mainfoyeroftheCambridgeCornexchange.

BRAINFest 2017We are delighted to invite you to save the date for Cambridge BRAINFest 2017

The Cambridge Neuroscience festival of brain science will be centred around an interactive showcase event, with themes including ‘Brain & Body’, ‘Pain & Pleasure’, ‘Perception & Imagination’ and ‘Learning & Forgetting’ spanning research from molecules to man.

Public lectures and a panel debate with prominent figures from the world of neuroscience and mental health will also feature over the weekend.
