WeLcOMe!Welcome to our second annual Advancing the Breed Braford Bull Sale. We were flattered by the demand and acceptance of high quality Braford genetics we saw in Lake Charles last year and are confident our breeders have supplied an even better set of bulls for your consideration in 2012. The bulls are stouter and more uniform with more performance and stronger EPDs. We are confident you will like what you see.

Do you need a little more ear on your Angus based cow herds? Have you been noticing the value of some of those Super Baldie heifers and the overall demand for Bos Indicus influenced replacement heifers? Bos Indicus influenced heifers out averaged the straight English and Exotic heifers at the recent Southern Producers heifer sale in Hattiesburg, MS.

This set of stout, performance tested Braford bulls could be the answer to your questions. All bulls will sell in the order they are graded by the Ranchers and Buyers on Wednesday evening during the social and meal. We invite all to join us for the grading and social hour. You will meet some great people and see some great cattle, and we want to know what our customers need and like!

All bulls have been developed together since weaning in a commercial feedyard setting with growth performance, ultrasound carcass data and EPDs provided. Since the evaluation period ended in late February, bulls have been further developed on grass with supplemental feed. The primary offering will be purebred Braford bulls, plus a few 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 Brahman bulls. All cattle are registered with United Braford Breeders.

Complete performance information is provided on each bull. Complete EPDs, the most accurate means of comparison between bulls, are provided as well as yearling frame score, and complete ultrasound data. Each bull has passed a Breeding Soundness Evaluation performed by Dr. Steve Schultz, of Franklin, Texas. This is a set of herd sire prospects you can buy with confidence based on the objective measurements you have at your disposable, the wide cross section of cattle evaluated in this test and the confidence you can place in your fellow breeders. It is truly an Opportunity to Advance the Breed and your program.

Graham Land & Cattle Company has once again outdone themselves with feeding and growing this group for peak performance with added emphasis on having them ready to move into your program. The 2011 buyers were treated to the first great set bulls. This year’s set of bulls is more consistent from top to bottom and shows the true commitment of our breeders to provide top quality, genetically superior herd sires for our second offering. There are bulls available for all producers both commercial and purebred focused. With bulls suitable for every phase/need of an operation for cattlemen looking for:

1) Increased growth and performance within their herd,

2) A maternal bull - moderate frame, low birth weight, high milk for replacement heifers or mature cows,

3) The true carcass bull for increasing marbling and ribeye area in offspring,

4) Or an individual with a balance of all traits to help solidify a cow base.

HOW tHe buLLS Were DeveLOPeDThe bulls in this sale represent several individual Braford breeding programs. The bulls were bred by top breeders in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Because the offering was assembled as calves produced in varying management and environmental settings, to provide a basis for making judicious comparisons, the sale catalog lists EPDs and performance measurements recorded in the development program in which all the bulls were treated alike.

The bulls arrived at the Graham Land & Cattle Co. feedyard in Gonzales, Texas on October 11, 2011. They were processed into the program and went through a brief warm-up/ adjustment period. Their starting weights were then taken on October 26. The bulls were fed in this commercial feedyard environment, all in the same pen, through February 20 when they were weighed off test. All ADG and WDA numbers in the catalog reflect performance over this 117-day period.

Ultrasound data on the bulls were collected by a CUP certified technician and evaluated in the CUP lab. The older bulls were scanned on December 21, 2011. The younger bulls were scanned on February 20, 2012. Ultrasound data were collected on all bulls within the recommended ultrasound age window for yearling bulls. Yearling scrotal circumference and frame score were recorded at the time bulls were scanned.

At the conclusion of the evaluation period, the bulls were trucked to nearby pasture where they were further developed. They were kept in a single group and grazed on clover, bermuda grass and bluestem pastures until the week of the sale.. While on pasture, the bulls were supplemented with a high roughage ration daily. The bulls were semen tested and weighed on September 14. At this time the bulls received booster vaccinations with Pfizer One Shot Ultra, Bovishield Gold and were drenched with Valbazen. September 14 weights and scrotal circumference measurements will be available at the sale or at the UBB’s website www.brafords.org.

The bulls will remain on pasture in Gonzales until they are trucked to the sale facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana shortly before the October 4 sale.

BIDDINGEach animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

TERMSTerms will be cash unless prior arrangements have been made between the purchaser and seller.

DISPUTES1. The auctioneer will settle any and all disputes as to bids by declaring all bids off and reselling the animal in question.2. Should a dispute arise between the buyer and the seller after the animal has been delivered, the UBB will assist in trying to resolve the matter in an equitable fashion, but will assume no responsibility.

PURCHASER’S RISKEach animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

ANNOUNCEMENTSAnnouncements from the auction box will take precedence over printed matter in the sale catalog.

LIABILITYAll persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. The owners, sales managers and the UBB assume no liability, legal or otherwise for any accidents which may occur.

REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES It shall be the responsibility of the seller and/or the sales manager to see that applications for transfers are properly prepared and submitted to the UBB within 30 days after the sale, or receipt of full payment.

HEALTHAll cattle must meet interstate health requirements, which comply with state and federal regulations. Cattle must be accompanied by current interstate health certificates. Calf-hood brucellosis vaccination of all eligible females is required.

GUARANTEE1. All cattle are guaranteed breeders provided they are properly handled and cared for by the purchaser.2. All cattle are guaranteed to be free from known genetic deformities and are guaranteed to not produce a calf with an inherited deformity for a period of one year from the sale date.3. All bulls have passed a breeding soundness exam within 30 days of the sale and will be accompanied by a health certificate on which the licensed veterinarian who conducted the examination states the results of the evaluation. 4. All females sold as bred have been examined by a licensed veterinarian within 60 days prior to the sale. All females sold as open will be guaranteed as such.

IDENTIFICATIONEach animal will be permanently identified by a readable brand or tattoo corresponding to the ID indicated on its registration certificate.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONSThe above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding on each. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction. Neither the UBB, the sales manager, nor any other person connected with management of the sale assumes any liability, legal or otherwise.
