“People have a certain amount of potential within them.Ensuring that this potential is used as productively as possiblegreatly helps an organization.”
“To put it another way, there is a vast amount of energy whichdisappears inside organizations, or is expended going indirections which don't end up leading anywhere. If all thatenergy is properly directed, it can add up to a huge amount ofpower that can be used to produce visible results.”
— Satoru Iwata

What is Lean? Why Lean instead of something else?
What is Lean? Why Lean instead of something else?
What is it?• Lean is a set of principles around the idea
that organizations can maximize customer value through eliminating waste, with respect for people.
• Lean is a way of thinking that focuses on optimizing the flow of work through value streams that can cross departments, rather than optimizing siloed departments.
• Lean is a collection of tools that help organizations operate according to these principles and move towards this way of thinking.
Why bother?• Lean is a system that addresses all levels
of an organization.• Lean has been developed and refined over
a long period of time.• Lean gives the organization a framework
for adapting to change and improving performance.
• Lean helps establish a workplace where everyone directly contributes to the value that is created for customers. (It is not about eliminating jobs or people.)
• Lean is pragmatic.
