Arriving in the UK

The support you receive starts even before you arrive.We provide you with advice about travel arrangements,accommodation, immigration and visas, generalinformation about living and studying in London, and alsoa pre-departure packing list.

Upon arrival at the airport, we will make every effort toassist you in getting to your accommodation.

Orientation

We will also arrange an orientation session before you

start your programme. This will cover matters such as:

customs and culture in the UK

introduction to London

health & safety transport

setting up a bank account

how we teach

how to make the most of your studies

what to see in the UK

While you are here

BPP has a large number of social clubs and sportssocieties which are the perfect way to settle in. We also

arrange special events for international students, sothat they can meet fellow students, experience Britishcustoms and visit places of interest.

The staff of the International Students Ofce are alwaysavailable to answer any questions you might have duringyour time here. We also have a mentor scheme throughwhich you can seek further information or guidance.

English language support

Our dedicated English language tutors can offer youindividually-tailored support and assistance duringyour studies.

Immigration and visas

If you are not a British Citizen or a citizen of one of theEuropean Economic Area (EEA) countries and you wantto come to the UK to study a programme lasting morethan six months then you must apply for a Tier 4 studentvisa. Obtaining a visa can be quite a long process so we

advise you to apply as soon as you have accepted youroffer of a place.

When you graduate

We will be here to help with your future plans. If you

intend to remain in the UK, the recently introducedTier 1 Post Study Work allows graduates to remain inthe UK for up to 24 months and engage in any type ofwork (except as a doctor in training). The InternaionalStudents Ofce will provide information and guidancewith regard to the relevant immigration policy.

Our specialist careers service offers you advice andguidance such as CV (rsum) and application checking,job-seeking workshops with mock interviews to prepareyou for real interviews, and employer speaker sessions.Careers information relating to occupations, employers,nding work experience and internships, further study

and training opportunities are available free of charge tocurrent students and for a year after graduation. *

Working in the UK during study

Most nationals from the European Economic Area (EAA)are free to work in the UK without restriction. Non-EUstudents can work up to 20 hours a week during termtime if they wish to and longer during holiday periods.This provides the opportunity to earn money to supportyour studies and to gain a greater understanding of

culture and language. We advise you to speak to ourInternational Students Ofce before you seekoutside employment.
