“I CANT SEE HIS EYES, BUT I CAN WATCH HIS FEET”

•POSTURE-

•An erect, straight and confident posture onentry of the boxer into the ring reflects all.

•Steps full of arrogance cannot conceal theimpatient nervousness of the boxer at thestart of the bout.

•STANCE-

•A stance filled with confidence shows themagnitude of boxers skill level and trainingefforts .

•A good balance reveals all for a winner or elsea wide flat footed posture shows inadequatelyprepared or an injured fighter. Thus aprogression to the staggering stance can leadto head injury or other serious problems.

•RING MOVEMENT-•An alert observation is like seeing poetry inmotion.•The art and grace of boxing is no moreevident than the floating skillful movements ofa dominant boxer like a flying butterfly andwithout consulting the score sheets the winnercan easily be made out.•A running boxer is a defeated boxer (unlessleading on points).•A score can be imagined just by seeing theposition of the boxers.

“I CANT SEE HIS EYES BUT I CAN WATCH HIS HANDS.”

•DEFENSE-

•It shows the safety and leads to a timelycessation of the bout.

•An effective defense is an ‘final determiningfactor ‘for a combat safety.

•Absence of defense from the bout shows thewinner has already emerged.

•It is better that a one sided bout should bestopped one minute early than seconds latefor a big injury.

DEFENCE

“I CANT SEE HIS EYES BUT I CAN WATCH HIS HANDS.”

•COUNTING AND THROWING PUNCHES-

•An active and busy boxer is rarely introuble.

•When a boxer is throwing punches,we know that they are healthy and thewinner can be predicted by who isthrowing punches and who is busy inthe ring scoring points

•LOWERERING OF ARMS-

•Unless a boxer has an unconventionalstyle, a lowered arm means trouble.

•Fatigue and accumulated body blowswill take their toll and drop the arms, leading to dangerous head flows, so italways said, ‘Go for the body and thehead will follow’.

“FATIGUE FACTORS”

•TIE UP-

•It is no surprise that a tired boxer ‘tie-up’ an opponent to slow the flow ofpunches.

•A tired boxer will ride his opponentwhile failing to work for additionalpoints.

“FATIGUE FACTORS”

•ACCUMULATING TRAUMA-

•If a boxer is getting ‘hooked-up’ andaccumulating facial swelling, smallcuts, bruises, bloody nose, torn cheeketc, then the writing is on the wall.

•It shows the winner stays all through.

“FATIGUE FACTORS”

• STANDING ‘8’ COUNTS. –

•This is an addition to safety controls withinthe boxing.

•Amateur boxing rules stipulate defeatwhen a boxer receive ’8’ count in a singleround during the bout is a good rule.

•Getting an ‘8’ saves the boxer fromimpending ‘knock-outs’ and ‘one sidedbouts’.

“FATIGUE FACTORS”

“EXTRANEOUS FACTORS”

•REFEREE LEVEL OF ALERTNESS-•If a competent referee handles the bout, the worries of a Doctor, coach and boxer isassured at a lower level.•If a skilled referee is hyper alert, it preventsinjuries but on the other hand if a goodreferee is nervous that makes a doctor andcoach nervous.•Their level of activity and alertnessreciprocates like a mirror, the flow of actionand concern.

“EXTRANEOUS FACTORS”

•CORNER RING ACTIVITY-

•At last nobody knows a boxer better thanhis coach.

•If you focus on coaches facial grimaces, smiles, intense posture or relaxed body, ittells the story.
