A message from BouHey there everyone.. Its Bou here I just wanted to check in and make sure every-
one was having a great me at the NL Winter Games in Clarenville. I know I certainly
am!
Since my birth on May 28, 2013, Ive done loads of stu from golng at a fund-
raiser, meeng students at the local schools, rubbing shoulders with VIPS, appearing
at recepons, and spending lots of me at the Games oce with Brad, Lesley andTrish. Paul and Richard have become my BFs as well. I think they might be geng
red of me hanging around though. Just joking.
This past week, Im nearly exhausted from all the acvies Ive been aending. To
start it o, last Thursday I got to ride on the back of a re truck (a big honour) at the
torch Relay which was followed by a Host Team Pep Rally. I had a blast at the Open-
ing Ceremonies and have aended as many sporng events as I can this week. I did
get to play some laser tag with the athletes on Sunday evening then on Monday
evening I appeared on CBC with Jonathan Crowe & Mayor Russell.
I had a great me in the photo booth geng my pic taken with you on Mondayevening and looking forward to doing the same later in the week as well. Everybody
wants to have their picture taken with me and Im absolutely
loving it... As you can see from the smile on my face!
Im sorry to be saying goodbye to such great athletes today,
but tomorrow I get to meet a whole bunch of new athletes,
coaches and ocials!

Lots of Smiling Faces
Day two of the Games saw more med-
als given out in cross country skiing
while finals are scheduled for Tuesday
morning for other sports.
Congratulations to all athletes.
Heres the medal standings as of
Tuesday evening:
For most of the Mt. Pearl male basketball team, freetime means time to work on their game -not that theyneed it.
The Mt. Pearl basketball boys won both of their Sun-day games, with scores of 53-39 against the Westernregion, and 81-26 against the Eastern.
Of the twelve boys on the team, eleven have beenplaying together since 2008. Brandon Power, aged15, stepped aside to talk about the teams successfulhistory.
The team has won provincial gold medals on threeseparate occasions, in 2010, 2012, and 2013. Butshinning gold medals are not this teams onlyachievement. In 2012, the team lost not a singlegame to any team they faced.
These boys play with a ferocity and determinationnot seen in many other teams. More than anythingelse, the Mt. Pearl boys have the skill they need toback up their reach for the gold.
The rest of the team joined Power for the final
minutes of the interview. As a team, the boys put greatrespect, honor, and humor in their coach, WillyTobin's, favorite saying; "Blood, guts, success."
Good luck to the Mt. Pearl boys!Brandy Murphy

Racing Relays Rock!
Yesterday's Nordic action saw the male and female 2.5km relayraces. The weather once again, was ideal, and Makaila Hudsonsaid conditions were "fast."
In the male race, the Western team earned gold and were followedclosely by Labrador who won silver. The Host boys were ecstaticas they earned bronze with a strong ski. Someone to watch is upand coming skier from western, Daley Merrigan. You should see
the tricks he can do on his cross country skis!
In the female race, western was strong once again and broughthome another gold medal performance. Similarly, the team fromLabrador edged out the Host team for silver. That's not to say theHost team wasn't happy with their performance. Their smiles wereear to ear.
Overall, the camaraderie between the skiers is the real story. Eve-ryone is having fun and enjoying great trails. Today, they'll com-pete in their final race, which is a 5km freestyle race.
Movie Night at Events CentreThe movie Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney was shown tonight at our local CEC. All athletes and volunteers
were invited to go enjoy a movie before their dance. There wasn't many spectators but the movie was great. Whoever didn't go
really missed out. Robyn Slaney and Allison Janes

Tweet of the day...
Last summer, Julia represented NL at the Canada Games, She came home with a 6th place
finish in her class. "It's a team effort" she says.
Julia talked about the stress put on each wrestler to keep in their weight class. A wrestling competitor may
have to go on strict diets to make weight for their competition. One of her team members, Brady Power, wasmoved up a weight class for this competition. She is extremely proud of his determination and success. Alt-
hough many of his competitors are up to two years older than him, he's already won one of his matches - a
great achievement.
"You have to want it," Wade says, "if you don't want it, you're not going to get it."

Basketball
Another great dayof basketball here at the Games. All ex-
cing and nerve wrecking games. The female game played by
Laval from Placena and the host team, ClarenvilleMiddle
School was intense. The benches were in a trance with the
score 34-33 for Laval in the second half of the last quarter.
Amazing sportsmanship is shownby the Eagles from St. John's North in
the last seconds of their game against theboys host team. With less
than a minute to go, whoever found themselves with the ball kindly
passed it to Alazar G. in hopes he would make a basket. Aer his sec-
ond shot, he made a basket and an uproar occurred in the gymnasium.
As well a heated game played by St. John's North
and Western ending in a score of 74-52 for St.
John's North.Be sure to stop by later today to
watch the bronze and gold medal games, they
are sure to holdmuch excitement.

HockeyLots of great games played today. One game was Mount Pearl South vsour host team. Sadly another loss for Clarenville. A second was
St. John's North vs Western. The score was 4-3 for Western. During
another game (Eastern vs Host) the goal-
ie from Eastern #1 hugged all her oppos-
ing players from the Host team before
hing the ice for third period. So nice
and kind, great sportsmanship!
