Continuity ExemptionsThe exemption will be expanded to include:

Any student currently enrolled (as of J anuary 14, 2014) in a West Salem schoolin grades K through 4, and grades 6 and 7.

A student who will enroll in a West Salem kindergarten in fall 2014 who has asibling enrolled in the school in grade K through 4 as of J anuary 14, 2014.

To claim the exemption, apply for an in-district transfer by February 7, 2014.Write “West Salem Continuity Exemption” on the top. The school district doesnot provide transportation to students on IDTs.

 The extension does not include students transitioning to middle school.

Exemption is void if the School Board does not approve the boundaries at theirFebruary 11, 2014 meeting.

If your student does not qualify for the continuity exemption but you would like

to request transfer, apply for an IDT between March 1 and 31, 2014. Transferrequests are not guaranteed to be approved.

Next Steps• First reading of the recommended boundaries to the

School Board on J anuary 14, 2014.

• Parents receive a letter informing of the next school ofassignment, contingent upon Board approval.

• Continuity IDT forms due by February 7, 2014.

• Second reading and School Board vote on February 11,2014.

•  The School Board will hear testimony on therecommended boundaries in J anuary and February.

• If approved, boundaries take effect fall 2014.
