CIR’s and ID’s
Credit Interpretation Request— an alternative way of achieving the same intent as an existing LEED credit. It is achieved by requesting permission to meet the “intent” of a credit using an approach that is different from the stated “requirements,” or simply a clarifying question not addressed in the rating guide.
Innovative Design (ID) — a way of earning one or more LEED points for technologies or strategies that are not included in the Rating System but offers substantial environmental benefits. It is achieved by requesting permission for a credit / measure that is not included in the current rating system or going above and beyond an existing credit.
