Bossier Parish Community College and the Office of Admissions are proud to announce the graduation of 24 high school students earning a total of 7 associates degrees and 26 certificates, at the Spring 2020 commencement ceremonies. The hard work, determination, and perseverance of these students paired with the unfailing support of their high schools and families has enabled them to achieve the extraordinary accomplishment of earning a postsecondary credential while simultaneously earning their high school diploma. Despite complications created by the COVID-19 pandemic, these students not only persevered, but excelled and have accomplished a truly extraordinary feat. The students who will be graduating with a postsecondary credential include Avery Colle and Shannon Mathers from Airline High School; Jamal Hill and Nickalus Weaver from Arcadia High School; Kami Bumgardner, Allie Curole, Emily Fearrand, Destiny Holland, James Lowring, Kayleigh Lupton, Macey Moss, and Misty Tanner from Castor High School; Shelby Roy, and Lauren Stroupe from Haughton High School; Dario Corsic, Brooklynn Noble, and Sonny Reed from Parkway High School; Skylar Davis, Antavion Moore, and Sela Smith from Ringgold High School; Mihir Patel from Summerfield High School; Ashton Gorman from University View Academy; and home educated students Richard Hausgen and Maggie Watson. Kami Bumgardner, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating with a Technical Diploma-Medical Assistant. Kami began taking dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2019. After graduation she plans to attend Northwestern State University in Natchitoches majoring in nursing. She has received a scholarship from NSU.

Bossier Parish Community College and the Office of Admissions are proud to announce

the graduation of 24 high school students earning a total of 7 associates degrees and 26

certificates, at the Spring 2020 commencement ceremonies. The hard work, determination, and

perseverance of these students paired with the unfailing support of their high schools and

families has enabled them to achieve the extraordinary accomplishment of earning a

postsecondary credential while simultaneously earning their high school diploma. Despite

The students who will be graduating with a postsecondary credential include Avery Colle

Kami Bumgardner, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating with a Technical

Diploma-Medical Assistant. Kami began taking dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2019.

After graduation she plans to attend Northwestern State University in Natchitoches majoring in

nursing. She has received a scholarship from NSU.

Avery Colle, a senior from Airline High School, will be graduating with a Certificate of

Technical Studies in Theater. Avery began taking dual enrollment courses as a participant in

Bossier Parish’s AIM Program in the spring of 2017. Avery will attend Loyola University

majoring in American Sign Language and Psychology.

Dario Cosic, a senior from Parkway High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. Dario began taking dual enrollment classes through Bossier Parish’s AIM

Program in the spring of 2019. He completed his certificate by earning 22 credit hours through

AP exams, 9 credit hours earned based on ACT scores, and 15 credit hours through BPCC. He

plans to attend LA Tech University this fall and major in Physics. Dario is the recipient of the

National Merit Scholarship, Elks Lodge #122 Scholarship, and the LA Tech Presidential

Scholarship.

Allie Curole, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating this summer with a

Certificate in General Studies. She began taking dual enrollment courses in the spring of 2018.

Allie was recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She has received offers from

NSULA, Mississippi State University, LA Tech, and ULM. She has decided to attend LA Tech

University where she will major in Architecture.

Skylar Davis, a senior form Castor High School, is graduating with an Associate of

General Studies and a Certificate of General Studies. Skylar began participating in dual

enrollment in the fall of 2017, and was recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

She plans to attend ULM- Honors College studying Political Science on a $20,000 scholarship.

Emily Fearrand, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating with an Associate of

Applied Science in Cyber Technology with a concentration in Programmer-Analyst and a Career

and Technical Certificate in Web Design. She began attending dual enrollment classes in the

spring of 2018. Emily completed her degree and certificate by earning 6 credit hours based on

ACT scores, and completed 63 credit hours through BPCC. She was recently inducted into Phi

Theta Kappa Honor Society. She plans to attend LSUS and continue studying Cyber

Technology. Emily has received numerous scholarship offers from colleges and universities in

LA, MS, OK, and AR.

Ashton Gorman, a senior from University View Academy, is graduating with an

Associate of General Studies and a Career and Technical Certificate in Network Security.

Ashton began dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2017, transferring 27 credit hours from

RPCC and NSULA, 12 credit hours through CLEP, AP, and ACT scores, and 18 credit hours

through BPCC. In the fall, Ashton plans to attend LA Tech majoring in Mechanical

Engineering. He is the recipient of the LA Tech Dean’s Scholarship.

Richard Luke Hausgen, a homeschooled student, is

graduating with a Certificate of General Studies. Luke began dual enrollment classes in the fall

of 2018 and completed his certificate by earning 6 credit hours based on ACT scores, and

completing 33 credit hours through BPCC. Luke was also recently inducted into Phi Theta

Kappa Honor Society. He plans to major in chemical engineering at LA Tech, where he has

been awarded the Presidential Scholarship.

Jamal Hill, a senior from Arcadia High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. He began taking dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2018. Jamal received

scholarship offers from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, Illinois Wesleyan University in

Bloomington, IL, Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO, and Sterling College in Sterling,

KS. After graduation, Jamal will attend Sterling College and major in Mathematics.

Destiny Holland, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. Destiny began taking dual enrollment courses in the spring of 2018. Destiny

was offered scholarships from NSU, LSUS, Millsaps, ULM, and SAU. She has decided to

attend NSU in the fall and major in nursing.

James Lowring, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. James began taking dual enrollment courses in the spring of 2018. He has

received scholarship offers from ULM, SAU, LSUS, and NSU. He has accepted NSU’s offer

and will be attending this fall. James has decided to major in communications.

Kayleigh Lupton, a junior from Castor High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. She began taking dual enrollment courses in the spring of 2019 and completed

the certificate by earning 6 credit hours based on ACT scores, and earning 27 credit hours

through BPCC. Destiny plans to attend LSUS and major in either psychology or sociology.

Destiny says, “As I am only a high school junior, I have not received any scholarship offers yet,

but hopefully I will have some soon.”

Shannon Mathers, a senior from Airline High School, is graduating with a Certificate in

General Studies. She began taking dual enrollment courses in the spring 2017 through

participation in Bossier Parish’s AIM Program. Shannon completed the certificate by earning 6

credit hours at LA Tech, 15 credit hours through AP exams, and 15 credits hours at BPCC.

Shannon received scholarship offers from LA Tech, University of Arkansas, Baylor University,

and the University of Oklahoma. After graduation, Shannon plans to study Mechanical

Engineering at the University of Oklahoma where she was accepted into the Honors College.

Shannon was awarded the Generation Cyber Scholarship, the Elks Student of the Month

Scholarship, and the National Merit Finalist Scholarship.

Antavion Moore, a senior from Ringgold High School, is graduating with his second

Associates degree. He will receive an Associate of Arts in Performing Arts and a Certificate of

Technical Studies in Music Production and Technology. Antavion began dual enrollment

courses in the fall of 2016 and earned his Associate of General Studies and Certificate of General

Studies in 2019. He was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa national honor society in the fall of

2019. After multiple scholarship offers totaling almost

$1 million, Antavion has accepted LSU- Baton Rouge’s offer of $53,000 over four years where

he will be majoring in Biological Engineering or Nutrition/Food Science Pre-Med. He has also

been awarded the 4-H Scholarship, BETA Scholarship, Flagship Scholars Resident Award, and

the prestigious Ron Brown Scholars Award.

Macey Moss, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. Macey began taking dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2018. After

graduation she intends on majoring in Secondary Education at NSU, where she has been offered

scholarships totaling $29,520 over 4 years.

Brooklynn Noble, a senior from Parkway High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. Brooklynn began taking dual enrollment courses in the spring of 2017 as a

participant in Bossier Parish’s AIM Program. She was recently inducted into the Phi Theta

Kappa Honor Society. After graduation Brooklynn plans to attend LSU in Baton Rouge to study

Software Engineering. She has been awarded the 2020 Starbase Scholarship.

Mihir Patel, a senior from Summerfield High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. Mihir began taking dual enrollment courses in the summer of 2019. He

transferred 12 credit hours from LA Tech, and earned 21 credit hours at BPCC to complete the

certificate requirements. After graduation, Mihir plans to attend LSU in Baton Rouge majoring

in Finance. He has received the Transformation Merit Resident Award from LSU.

Sonny Reed, a senior from Parkway High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. Sonny began taking courses in dual enrollment through Bossier Parish’s AIM

Program in the spring of 2017. He completed his certificate by earning 14 credit hours through

AP exams, 9 credit hours earned based on ACT scores, and completing 27 credit hours at BPCC.

After graduation, Sonny plans to attend LA Tech University where he will major in Cyber

Engineering and minor in Spanish. Sonny has been awarded the Cultivating Generation Cyber

Scholarship, Elks Lodge Student of the Month Scholarship, and LA Tech’s Presidential

Scholarship.

Shelby Roy, a senior from Haughton High School, is graduating with an Associate of

General Studies and a Certificate of General Studies. Shelby began taking dual enrollment

courses in the fall of 2016 as a participant in Bossier Parish’s AIM Program. She plans to attend

Centenary College in the fall, working toward a double major in Visual Arts and Pre-Med.

Shelby has received several scholarships including TOPS, LASAFAP Scholarship, LSWA

Scholarship, and academic scholarships from Centenary.

Sela Smith, a senior from Ringgold High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. She began taking dual enrollment courses in the spring of 2019 and completed

her certificate by earning 9 credit hours through NSULA, along with 27 credit hours at BPCC.

After graduation, Sela plans to attend ULM and major in Criminal Justice.

Lauren Stroupe, a senior from Haughton High School, is graduating with a Certificate of

General Studies. Lauren began taking dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2016 as a participant

in Bossier Parish’s AIM Program. She plans to attend LSU in Baton Rouge and will be double

majoring in English and History. Lauren was awarded the Flagship Scholar Resident Award and

the LA Tiger Legacy Excellence Award.

Misty Tanner, a senior from Castor High School, is graduating with an Associates of

General Studies and a Certificate of General Studies. Misty began taking dual enrollment

courses in the spring of 2018. She plans to attend Louisiana College and major in Pre-Med with a

minor in Education. Misty received the Leadership Award from LA College.

Maggie Watson, a homeschooled student from Haughton, LA, is graduating with an

Associate of General Studies, Certificate of General Studies, and a Career and Technical

Certificate in Web Design. Maggie began taking dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2018, and

will have earned her degree and certificates by earning 6 credit hours based on ACT scores and

completing 54 credit hours through BPCC. She was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor

Society in 2019. Maggie plans to major in Computer Science at LA Tech University, where she

has been accepted into the Honors Program and offered the Outstanding Student Scholarship.

Maggie will also receive the TOPS Honors Scholarship for a combined total of $51,400 over 4

years.

Nickalus Weaver, a senior from Arcadia High School, is graduating with a Certificate in

General Studies. Nickalus began taking dual enrollment courses in the fall of 2018. He was

offered scholarships throughout LA and AR. Nickalus plans to attend ULL and major in

Criminal Justice.
