INTRODUCTION ▪ Things are heating up in the coldest of the four corners of the planet. Heat stroke has just pushed an unassuming polar bear into a spiraling madness. Now, Bi-Polar is plotting unthinkable acts of unkindness unless one man… err… box… err… Boxman can thwart his sinister schemes! But dishing out a little action movie justice isn’t going to do the trick this time, as the top brass are suggesting Boxman should look at this crisis from all of its many sides… can he stop Bi-Polar without just running in guns blazing and kickin’ box? Maybe there’s a way this old-school grunt can get his kicks and solve the puzzle of restoring Bi-Polar to his senses… but he’s going to have to think outside of the box.

The Boss
OFFICIAL SEAL ▪ This is Boxman’s top brass. He’s a thick skinned fellow that goes by the name Official Seal… or was it Winston Churchseal? He’s placed the responsibility of putting brains before brawn squarely on Boxman’s shoulders.

The Blockheads
BOXMAN ▪ This hero blows holes in the stereotypes about being square. So look out world, there’s a new kid on the block… err… a new block-kid… thingy. An off-the-grid expert, his powers of infiltration are unmatched, unless of course you want him to sneak into a doughnut factory. So strap on your headband, it’s time to learn how to block.
SHADOWBOX ▪ Official Seal knows Boxman is the perfect man-ish for the job but he also knows that it’s good to have solid backup. ShadowBox has been charged with the mission of tailing Boxman and offering his support should the enemies get our hero boxed into a tight spot. This shadow agent allows Boxman to take on the baddies with the power of 2.

The Baddies
PENGUINS ▪ Put a beret on a penguin and you’ve got yourself an arctic army of doom. Belly sliding has never been more treacherous!
SPIKE PENGUINS ▪ Put a spike-hat on a penguin or two and you’ve got twin terror assassins! Hopefully Boxman can live up to his reputation and miss the point!

The Baddies (continued)
WALL-RUSS ▪ Bi-Polar’s right-hand and his last line of defense on the outer walls (probably because there isn’t room for the two of them inside the base stronghold). This bulky hulk is practically a wall in his own right.
BI-POLAR ▪ This unlikely villain isn’t all bad, but while he’s under the influence of his heatstroke induced madness, Boxman better watch his back (whichever side his back is). Can Boxman put this hot-head’s schemes on ice?

The Blocks
ICE ▪ Ice blocks are the most abundant type of block in the game. When shot they shatter, opening new paths for Boxman to navigate. Ice can squish Boxman if it falls on him. Ice may come in three colors, each a shade of blue; the darker the ice, the more shots it will take to be completely shattered. Sometimes there will be items hidden in the ice.
CRATE ▪ Crates work like ice, but will only be found indoors. Crates become more frequent as Boxman gets closer to the inner core of the enemy base. Items are more likely to be hidden in crates, even items essential to solving the level like gears to open doors or even flags.
STONE ▪ This is the only type of block that does not shift. Stone also cannot be destroyed. These blocks form foundations and wall off sections of a level.

METAL ▪ Metal cannot be destroyed but it shifts when blocks beneath it are destroyed and it can be moved left or right when Boxman shoots it. Use these blocks to build staircases or push them out of the way to open new paths.
SLANTS ▪ There are a variety of slant blocks in the game. Some are partially covered with ice so that Boxman can choose whether to activate them by shooting out the icy part. If round objects like snowballs, bombs or oil drums fall on slants, they will roll after Boxman.
GEARS AND DOORS ▪ In some levels locked doors will block Boxman’s path. These doors can be opened by finding the appropriate gear that controls the door. Shooting it will cause it the gear to turn and open the door.

STALAGMITES AND STALACTITES ▪ These are spiky blocks that will poke Boxman if he touches them. Stalactites will fall if shot, taking out any destroyable blocks in their path. If a Stalactite falls on top of a stalagmite, the two will form a new solid block that will no longer be dangerous to touch.
DETONATORS ▪ These items can be found scattered throughout the game. Boxman can activate a detonator by jumping on top of it. When it goes off, it will blow up all of the ice in the current level. But beware, this shortcut may not always the best approach.
HEARTS ▪ Hearts will restore 25 points of health to Boxman when collected. They can be shot by accident so be careful!

The Blocks (continued)
AIR BUBBLES ▪ Air bubbles will restore Boxman’s air meter by 25 points. The air meter only appears when Boxman is in the water at the bottom of a level. The air meter can also be reset by jumping out of the water for a breather.
SKULLS ▪ These special items are an anthropological record of the past, frozen in the ice. Studying the past can give Boxman perspective on where he comes from and perhaps where he is headed. If all 5 are collected, Boxman’s abilities will evolve to a new level of power and responsibility. Deep.
SNOWBALLS ▪ Snowballs cannot be destroyed. If they fall on top of a slant, they will begin to roll and things well… snowball from there.

The Blocks (continued)
BOMBS ▪ Bombs are very dangerous. Obviously, don’t shoot them or they go boom. Oh, and they roll after you sometimes.
TIME BOMBS ▪ Time bombs are a lot like bombs only more punctual.
OIL DRUMS ▪ Oil drums will explode like bombs if shot and will roll after Boxman if they fall on top of a slant. If you see a drum, beat it. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

The Bonuses
SPECIAL ABILITIES ▪ Boxman can gain 3 special abilities if he keeps a level head (shouldn’t be too hard): Adding a detonator to any level at any time, hiding from foes and rolling objects, and wielding a shield like his enemies carry to protect him from all physical damage. Pretty sweet. Any blockhead can earn them with enough hard work: beat the game, find all 5 hidden skulls, and beat or tie the high score on every level.
