We use the latest LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3
Educator kits. Students gain career readiness as
they learn to program the robots in LabVIEW™
based software, which is used by professional
scientists and engineers.
Students work in pairs to build on sensors and
motors to complete challenges inspired by
popular tales. In the extended camp or club
they may even completely redesign the robot.
These classes build 21st Century Skills like
communication, collaboration, critical thinking,
creativity and problem solving.

AGES 7+ Get the best of all worlds with our most popular multiple session class that combines the hands-on, kinesthetic learning of LEGO® WeDo® with the computational thinking of game coding. Students will learn how to create a simple video game using Scratch, free software from MIT that they can use at home long after the class. Then, we’ll bring the action to life as we build and program LEGO® WeDo® robots to go with our game. Students collaborate on their borrowed robot sets, but each student will make his or her own game to keep!
This series is typically taught in four 2-hour sessions, but may be adjusted to suit scheduling needs.

Jr. Game Coding, KIDS 7-10
Kids ages 7+ will learn how to make their
own video games with Scratch, free
software from MIT that they can use at
home long after the class. Participants will
keep the game they create.
Choose either a two-hour standalone or

add levels and customize the game with
advanced features like health bars, music,
and student designed art.

3D Animation, AGES 10-ADULT
Tweens, teens or adults will learn how to
code and design their own creations with
Carnegie Mellon’s free 3D programming
environment Alice. Participants can save
their projects and keep building at home.

In this class for those with some experience
using Scratch, GameMaker or other coding,
we'll explore Carnegie Mellon's free 3D
programming environment Alice by making a
PG FPS game together. Great as a two part
series with 3D Animation.

TWEENS, TEENS, ADULTS, SENIORS Gigalearn tailors each coding club to the specific skills and interests of the attendees. In each session we’ll explore different tools, programming environments and languages. As participants build experience, they’ll work more and more at their own pace, supported by the instructor when needed, so that they feel empowered to experiment long after the class.

JavaScript is a foundational programming language that can control how web pages look or how we interact with them. The JavaScript interpreter comes with every major web browser, so after the class, users can continue to experiment on their own computers without installing anything new.

In this introductory class we'll explore source code and play with Hypertext Mark-Up Language and a smidge of JavaScript, two essential tools of professional web developers.

Python is a powerful but friendly open source text-based programming language that can be used to create web apps, games and programs for the Raspberry Pi®. It is often taught as a first language in college courses. In this class for beginners we’ll explore the basic syntax and create a few programs together.

by using breadboards to connect

C/C++, foundations of coding.

This two-hour intermediate class is
perfect for experienced participants,
or as a two part series with the intro
class. Students will build and program
a color changing mood lamp.

The Raspberry Pi® is an inexpensive
computer perfect for making and coding.
Intro to Raspberry Pi®
In this two-hour intro class we’ll
explore how to get started with Pi,
including installing the operating
system, programming in Python,
connecting electronics, using the
Terminal, and setting up SSH.
Retro Raspberry Pi®ng-Pong
Perfect as a companion add-on or for
folks with more experience, this two-
hour class dives deeper into coding as
participants program an old school
style video game.

Glowing Greetings
Participants make and take a pop-up greeting card that lights up for a seasonal holiday, local
sports team, or just for fun! This class works well as an intergenerational event.

DoodleBOTs
Participants learn about circuits and electricity while making a wiggling, jiggling drawing
machine. We can theme them for any holiday, or make them just for fun.

Powered Pins
Using conductive thread, participants will learn how to sew circuits to make a light up badge
celebrating a holiday, team or event of your choice.

Conductive Clay
Modern sculptors use light in their 3d creations and so can we. Participants will learn about
electrical circuits as they hand craft a creation to keep! Come prepared to get a little messy.

Electric Art
Art gets a boost with science, technology, engineering and math! Participants learn about circuits
while making projects with conductive materials that they get to keep!

Electric Art History
Participants will learn about an artist who shaped the world while making their own pieces inspired by his
or her work. We'll amp it up by incorporating an electrical component to make it really glow.

TEENS 13+, ADULTS, SENIORS In the two-hour standalone option, Gigalearn will provide a lecture style presentation with handouts and opportunities for questions as we demonstrate how participants can make their own websites with NO CODING skills required using Wordpress.com.
Two-hour Standalone: $350
The eight-hour series perfectly supports entrepreneurs getting ready to launch their own businesses. Each participant will create a free WordPress.com account and learn to customize it. Over four sessions we’ll discuss best practices for user-experience, search engine optimization and hosting options in this hands-on class. Participants will leave with a functioning website.
