I couldn’t agree more w ith the first point. Google places is great way to find acottage in the locat ion you require. Type ‘holiday cottage wales’ into Google mapsand see how you can move around and zoom in to find the locat ion you require. Itstakes about 10mins and a few pictures to get going on Google place and asmentioned its free.
Also its worth thinking and reading around what the best website name would be foryour potent ial new site. Keywords are king and you should read about them prior toregistering your website.

Welcome.
This website is for owners of holiday cottages and it’s purpose is to introduce them to new ways to help market andpromote their holiday homes. Whilst it has been written primarily for owners in Northumberland it is in fact equallyapplicable to any cottage in the UK.
We have kept each post brief and to the point. There are no distractions, just plenty of interesting advice.
Whilst all the articles are interesting we would suggest the top five are :
1. Google places. Your only chance to compete with the larger agencies and directories. It’s free and low maintenance.
2. Repeat visitors. The only way you will get the high occupancy rates. Whilst mainly free the marketing work here can betime consuming.
3. Review websites like Tripadvisor. These review websites are both a problem and a challenge. You have to learn how tomanage them to your advantage.
4.Your own website. It takes time to get going and rarely will bring enough business to replace agencies. But you can beup and running for nothing or for a minimal cost. The sooner you commit the better.
5. Videos and Youtube. You can get videos either for free or have a professionally produced video at a decent rate. Withfaster broadband access this is now very important.
Why are you explaining all these marketing secrets, the advice would cost many thousands of pounds in consultancy fees?
Answer: We know that 2012 is going to be a hard year for cottage owners. Using some of these tips will definitely helpimprove your bookings. You can save a lot of money by doing it yourself but be warned some of the advice will take up alot of your time. Alternatively you can pay a marketing professional or persuade your holiday letting agent to help.
