Boi Bumba is a very interesting and intriguing festival.
2. Boi Bumba is celebrated in all of Brazil and some of the best
places to celebrate it are on the Parintins Island, in Sao Luis,
Brazil, and Manaus, Brazil.
3. People celebrate this holiday to recognize the story of Boi, the
ox, and how his owner did not have enoughtongue for the holiday, so
Boi was killed for his tongue.
4. Many people in Brazil celebrate Boi Bumba, even tourists, but
more specifically, the natives of Brazil.
5. Boi Bumba is celebrated in late June or early July for three
days.
6. It is celebrated as a competition and each team gets one chance
to tell the story of Boi the ox and how he was killed and
resurrected using costumes, giant puppets, musical instruments, and
dance.
7. Boi Bumba tells that Brazil is a country that wants its history
to be remembered; in one way using dance and folklore.
