Education Week Awards On Friday 9th August 2019, The Namoi Partner School’s celebrated Education Week by recognising the efforts of the school’s both staff and students and also our local community members. Students from our school also performed as part of the joint school choir and sang beautifully.

Congratulations to this year’s well deserved winners: Toby Eddington, Mrs Jenny Smith and Mr Craig Devine.

• Staff Award: Jennifer Smith – SAM Jenny goes beyond her role as SAM with great enthusiasm. Her commitment to public education is outstanding, ensuring that Boggabri Public school running efficiently, smooth, Jenny greets people with a friendly smile, and positive attitude, her manner is very professional. For many year’s Jenny has volunteers her time supporting year 6 students to assist in the delivery of meals on wheels for the Boggabri Elderly. She is dedicated, great team player and is sensitive to all students and parent’s needs.

• Student Award: Toby Eddington Toby shows great interest in his learning, and always focused; he is committed to getting the most out of all learning opportunities, completes work to the expected standard and responds well to feedback. Toby demonstrations resilience and is willing to persevere when things are difficult or challenging. Toby is a positive role model whom, actively participates in all school events, assist in extra duties and extended his support to community events with pride and good sportsmanship.

• Community Member Award: Craig Devine A testament to the work and time volunteered to Boggabri Public School, Craig has making a significant contribution, to our school whether it be with transporting students to sporting events, attending school excursion as a male representative and assisting staff fixing up odd jobs around the school. He is a positive male role model to our male students, with a happy outlook and willingness to help and guide others. A great resource and a wealth of knowledge for our school. SDD Notification On Wednesday 21st August 2019, the school will be having a School Development Day for staff, it will be a pupil free day for students. Please return the note that was sent home last week by tomorrow. Ag Quip Excursion Students in year 4, 5 & 6 who have returned their permission note and money will be attending the Ag Quip Excursion on Thursday 22nd August. The bus will be leaving at 9:00am sharp, students are asked to be at school at 8:30am to ensure they are ready to leave on time. Students need to be in their full sports uniform, have their school hat, water bottle and food, if they wish to bring some money along they can. The bus will return before 3:00pm.

Book Week

Each year CBCA (The Children’s Book Council of Australia) brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Book Week. This year book week runs from 17th - 23rd August and the theme is Reading is my Secret Power. Boggabri Public School will celebrate book week this week in the classroom and will hold our annual Book Week parade on Friday 30th August in conjunction with our Assembly at 9:00am. Students are able to come dressed as their favourite book character, all parents are encouraged to attend. Sydney Excursion Chocolate Drive A Chocolate Drive Fundraiser has been organised for the students who are attending the Sydney Excursion at the end of the year. Order forms were sent out to families last week, please return to the office by no later than Tuesday 20th August at 3pm. If you would like to order a box please see Miss Jones in the office. All monies will be divided amongst the students who are attending the excursion.

Father’s Day Stall The Father’s Day stall will be held on Tuesday 27th August 2019. Students can bring money in for the stall on the day or it can be handed to the office for safe keeping prior. The stall will have gifts for sale from $1.00 - $8.00. Zone Athletics Carnival The Zone Athletics Carnival will be held in Gunnedah on Friday 23rd August 2019. Please return permission notes and $3.00 fee to the office no later than tomorrow. If your child is not attending the carnival please let the office know so their spot can be offered to another child. Good luck to those students competing on Friday! A program will be handed out to students tomorrow! Touch Gala Day On Thursday 29th August 2019, a Touch Gala Day will be held in Gunnedah. Students have received their permission notes, please return them to school by Friday 23rd August. If parents could help with transport of students please let the office know ASAP. Students need to wear sports uniform. Uniform Formal uniform/Smart Casual is to be worn 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday), except for events which require the sports uniform and parents will be notified on these occasions. The formal uniform is as follows: Girls: Formal Winter - Tunic, with long sleeve white shirt, tie, stockings and black shoes. Boys: Formal Winter - Blue long sleeve shirt, tie, navy long school pants, white/grey socks and black shoes. Students are able to wear their school jumpers as part of this uniform. If students do not have the formal winter uniform they are able to wear their Smart Casual uniform which is as follows. The school would like to see as many students in their formal uniform if possible.

Girls: Smart Casual Winter - Long sleeve shirt, Tie, navy school pants and black shoes (pictured) or red polo shirt, navy school pants and black shoes. Boys: Smart Casual Winter - Red polo shirt, navy formal school pants and black shoes. Sports uniform is to be worn 2 days per week (Wednesday and Fridays). The sports uniform is as follows: Girls/Boys: Winter Sports - Red polo shirt, navy tracksuit pants/school microfibre sports pants, school jumper or sports jacket and joggers of any colour. If the weather is warm students may wear school sport shorts underneath their pants to change during sport time. Winter uniform is to be worn for Terms 2 & 3. An announcement on the summer uniform requirements will be given in the newsletter of Week 9 Term 3. All items of clothing can be purchased at the school as well as the clothing pool.

Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) Finishes on Friday 30th August. If your child is participating in the challenge please ensure they have finalised the books read and have returned their reading logs to Mrs McInerney by this date. Well done to all those students who have been busy reading and have completed the challenge. Participation certificates will be presented to those students who complete the challenge in Term 4. Footy Fever Gala Day On Tuesday 24th September (week 10), a free Footy Fever Gala Day will be held at Jubilee Oval. More information to come in the next newsletter as well as permission notes. SpeakFest SpeakFest will be held on Thursday 26th September 2019 at Gunnedah Public School. If your child wishes to enter please notify the school and return the $3 entry fee to the office by Friday 6th September. Parents please note that you will have to organise travel for your child to attend. See the attached flyer for more information. Science Fair Our annual Science Fair will be held on Friday 27th September (the last day of term). Students can begin to think of and prepare a science fair project to showcase on the day. Parents and community members will be very welcome to join us on this day to explore the wonderful display of science experiments our students conduct. A separate note will be sent home with each child explaining what they need to do.

Sydney Excursion The Sydney Excursion is fast approaching, parents are encouraged to pay off the excursion instalments to ensure it is paid in full by Friday 1st November 2019. A packing list will be given to parents at the end of Term 3 so parents can get organised in the holidays. If you have any questions about the excursion please see Miss Jones in the office. Canteen Special Pies and Sausage Rolls $3.00 until stock runs out. • Smart Chef No Smart Chef this week due to SDD and Ag Quip Excursion Week 6 - Wednesday as normal. • Breakfast Club Breakfast Club is now held 4 days per week, Tuesday-Friday.
