WORKSHOP MATERIALS

Incredibles (Movie on DVD that includes the short Boundin’) Four noodles (used in swim classes) 15 Squares of mat (yoga mats work) (20”x20”), 1 for each small group Kooshballs or some small soft item to pass (enough to distribute one for

each group) Teacher folders of instructions/role One bandana for every two students One set of markers for each group Evaluation forms (one/student) Reflection booklets (one/student) Pencils (one for each student) Newsprint/chart paper 8 Cones to use as boundary markers Two cordless microphones Movie Screen Large Identifier Cards that match stickers (For instance, if you used a

basketball sticker, you would want a 8 ½ X 11 card with a basketball on it.) These are used to divide the kids into their respective groups.

o Nametags with stickers (use the number of stickers necessary for the number of groups you desire) Print nametags with clipart because students pull off the stickers. Ex: Ten groups, 10 different clipart designs.

List of students who are attending must be sent out to staff. Lunches – Field trip style for teachers as well as students

Facility Setup

Sound system AV setup Activity area Enough chairs for adults

Miscellaneous Thoughts Permission forms- have teachers distribute and collect, using rosters to ID

those kids w/o forms and those w/o permission o -have teachers/counselors reissue missing forms o -have counselors contact parents of those w/o permission to clarify

the objectives of the workshop For teacher facilitators:

o -at lunch, spread out and eat with the kids. Encourage those in a group to include those eating alone by them going over to invite that person, or moving the group to eat with that person

Project BoB!

Bullies on Blast!!

Prevention Services is very excited to offer elementary campuses an opportunity for <SCHOOL YEAR>. Prevention

Services has a one day interactive bully training for the fourth graders. However to be considered for this opportunity you

must commit to the following:

• Complete Principal support, indicated by signature

• Complete counselor support, indicated by signature

• Complete grade level teacher support, indicated by signature

• Enough adults, not to include parents, to maintain a ratio of ten to one (not counting Amy and Denise) – that

might mean teacher’s aides, art teachers, PE teachers, etc. in addition to the grade level teachers

• Organization and set – up to include: permission slips, organizing sack lunches, and name tags

• One full day with the students in a location that will be undisturbed and has room to be active, such as a gym

• Counselor present the entire day of the training

• Counselor and one other staff member to be trained to conduct training the following year(s)

• Pre/Post survey of the students about bullying

• Two follow-up meetings with Prevention Services, counselor and grade level teachers to discuss post training

discussions and activities with students

• Computer/screen/speaker set up

• Two year commitment

Denise and Amy will come in and conduct the training the first year. The second year Prevention Services will be

available to work with campus trainers (counselor and other staff member) in getting the program started.

The campuses that have this form signed by the principal with a written statement as to why their campus needs/wants

Project BoB back to Amy and Denise at the ESC by <DATE> will be considered for Project BoB next year.

NOTE:

*blast is a term used by youth to mean “calling you out” – when someone is on blast they are being called out. You will hear them

ask, “Why are you putting me on blast?”

Project BoB!

Bullies on Blast!!

Why does your campus need/want Project BoB? (We are looking for the need and what the campus plans to do post training – what will the campus be doing to support the lessons

learned so that it is not a one-time message.)

Teacher Folder one per teacher

Includes: • Schedule • Dialogue Questions • Session 11—Define Bullying Questions • Thumbs Up/Down • Conflict/Bullying

We laminated ours

for durability.

Island one per group

Measurements: 20”x20”

You can put a bigger mat—but the primary purpose of this activity is to learn to listen and work together. If it is too easy they will not get to a point of stopping to listen to each other’s idea

and becoming a team.

You could have them try on a big one first and then once they are successful have them try on the smaller one—my concern is that they will have established their roles from the first one and not stop to let others

have a place or voice.

One yoga mat makes three islands.

Bandana five per group of ten

You can probably make these cheaper, if someone can sew—use this one as a template. The cheapest I have found is $1.00/bandana at

Hobby Lobby. You need one for every two students.
