JUSTIN IZZOOn the Importance of Service the Community and School District …

“I feel very fortunate to come from our diverse community. Through the stages of my life I have had the opportunity to learn, work and socialize with a lot of people in our village. Those interactions have made me the person I am today. I’m confident in saying that our community and our school district give children the tools needed to be successful. I feel obligated and privileged to share the skills that I have acquired with the people of this community.”

JUSTIN IZZOOn the Most Pressing Issues Facing Education …

“Federal and State mandates, whether good or bad, will affect the manner in which our children are educated. I believe that while many in the district will have strong feelings either for or against these mandates, we need to stay true to our mission and ‘send all students into the world well prepared’.”

THERESA PRESTIGIACOMOOn the Importance of Service the Community and School District …

“With the changing landscape of the New York State public education system, it is important now more than ever to serve the community and the school as a Board of Education member. The primary role of a school board member is to participate in setting policy that affects the children in our community. As a graduate of Dolgeville Central School and a longtime resident of the village, I know that DCS strives to prepare our children to become competent and engaged global citizens.”

THERESA PRESTIGIACOMOOn the Importance of Service the Community and School District …

“It is imperative that we stay this course despite the current obstacles within the public education system, to ensure our children’s success. It is paramount that we as a community in general and our school system in particular, continue to provide as many opportunities as possible to sustain student learning at high levels. As a Board of Education member, it will be my duty to ensure that all children are represented. I will work tirelessly to formulate policies that support student success while deeply considering the burden carried by taxpayers.”

“Most importantly, I love this community. I grew up in Dolgeville and, after living away after college for about six years, I returned and have come to make a home for myself and my family. My extended family lives in the immediate area, allowing me to interact with many nieces and nephews. It is a strong, protected village where children can play outside and where going for a jog in the early morning hours is safe and rewarding. There is no other village where I could feel more at home.”

THERESA PRESTIGIACOMOOn the Most Pressing Issues Facing Education …

“Funding is the most pressing issue facing both education in general and Dolgeville Central School. We have experienced major inconsistencies in state and federal aid (GAP Elimination Adjustment Aid and Foundation Aid are still not being satisfied). While the costs of education is increasing, the taxpayers of our small community cannot afford high budget increases.”

THERESA PRESTIGIACOMOOn the Most Pressing Issues Facing Education …

“Our buildings and equipment are aging. Healthcare costs for school employees have increased. Keeping up-to-date with ever-evolving technology is costly. These are just fixed costs. To help maintain our high standards for student achievement we need to stay competitive with Advance Placement and college credit classes, special education, technologies, art, music, athletics. With limited funding and aid programs, we have to be creative with our decisions so that our children can continue to grow and learn and become well-rounded citizens.”
