Message
Warm greetings to all!
On behalf of the Committee on Conventions of the Philippine College of Surgeons, I am privileged to invite you to our 75th Annual PCS Clinical Congress to be held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City on December 1-4, 2019. With the theme “GAME CHANGERS IN SURGERY”, our Committee on Continuing Surgical Education has prepared a well-balanced program focusing on recent advances in Surgery. Several well-known foreign guest speakers who are the “big guns” in surgery have confirmed their participation and are going to share their expertise and experiences. Taking off from the ratification of our By-Laws last May, we will formally launch our three new commissions: Commission on Cancer; Commission on Trauma and
Injury Care; and the Commission on Surgery in Underserved Regions for Education. These will bring our College to greater heights and serve as a formidable political voice in the country. Expect also a fun-filled Fellowship Night for all of us to enjoy. Renew and reinforce your friendships with your surgeon colleagues while relishing the sumptuous dinner prepared especially for you. Congratulations to our Vice President Jose Antonio M. Salud as the Overall Convention Chair and to the various committees for working so hard to put this all together.
See you at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel!
GEORGE G. LIM, MD, FPCS, FRCSEd President
Philippine College of Surgeons
Message
“In a world full of game players, the only way to set yourself apart is to be a game changer” – Matshona Dhliwayo It is that time of the year again when surgeons around the country come together for continuing surgical educational activities, sharing of best practices and fellowship during the culminating activity of the Philippine College of Surgeons through the support of the Philippine College of Surgeons Foundation. Game Changers in Surgery, the theme for this 75th Annual Clinical Congress from December 1-4, 2019, will whet one’s appetite for the latest information in various surgical topics presented by top international and local speakers. I also suggest for one and all not to miss the
fellowship night as it promises to entertain. Join us and get ahead of the game!!

Modern Manila Tour for RETURNING VISITORS and FIRST TIME VISITORS
The "other side" of Manila is a modern metropolis that is gaining increasing importance as a major artery in the financial flow of the Pacific. Your tour begins with a drive through the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex - a complex that lies on reclaimed land situated along Roxas Boulevard - entirely reminiscent of the glory years of the Marcoses. A drive through the complex starts with a glance of the fountain-adorned Cultural Center of the Philippines, the country’s seat of cultural awareness. Then move on to the Philippine International Convention Center and the Folk Arts Theater - favorite venues for both local and international events, concerts and performances. Adjacent to these structures are the Coconut Palace, a building made mostly of coconut materials, and the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, a deluxe hotel with a magnificent view of the Manila Bay. Proceed to Makati, the financial and commercial center of Manila. You will visit the famous Ayala Museum, whose core historical collections are the sixty handcrafted dioramas that chronicle the rich tapestry of Philippine anthropology. It also features a one-of-a-kind boat gallery showcasing miniatures of some of the watercraft that have contributed to the development of Philippine maritime trade and the colonial economy. Archaeological and ethnographic objects from the country’s northern and southern communities complement the historical collection. The Fine Arts collection features important works by three painters considered pioneers in Philippine art namely, Juan Luna, Fernando Amorsolo and Fernando Zobel. Your last stop is at the American Memorial Cemetery - perhaps the largest and most beautiful Armed Forces resting place outside continental United States. Departure from Edsa Shangri-La Hotel - 8:30 AM Estimated time of arrival at hotel - 4:30 PM Tour Itinerary: Depart hotel via Shaw Boulevard Rolling tour of CCP Complex – CCP/PICC/Folk Arts Theater/Coconut Palace
