Its a BMW strategy employing a wide variety of measures designed to achieve a consistent increase in fuel economy combined with a simultaneous increase inthe dynamic performance of all BMW vehicles.

These measures address the overall vehicle concept, the powertrain and energy management.

This includes intelligent lightweight construction, aerodynamics, BMW eDrive and the BMW TwinPower Turbo engine family. Since , this shas achieved a % reduction in CO emissions for the European new-vehicle eet, and they will be halved by summer . In addition, BMdeveloping new vehicle concepts for electric mobility. The ideal chassis for even more agile handling the electronically controlled dampers ofthe Adaptive Suspension adapt to yourdriving style and the road conditions. Theiroperating characteristics can be adjustedvia the Driving Experience Control button.A considerably stiffer suspension setting isavailable by selecting Sport mode using theDriving Experience Control button. When driving at night, the swivellingdlights follow your steering wheel movements, allowing you to seeher into the bend. The cornering lights improve close-range visibility.y become active automatically, even when the car is standing, asn as the indicator is activated or the steering wheel turned. In thisy, Adaptive Headlights make for enhanced road illumination in everyation and increase active driving safety.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with extended functionalityuses a wide variety of sensors to permanently monitor the vehiclescurrent status, optimising directional stability and traction through engineand brake management interventions. This makes it easier to control thevehicle in poor conditions, enhancing both active safety and driving pleasure.

Active Protection is the preventive BMW ConnectedDrive occupantprotection system. Tyre pressure indicator alerts the driver when pressure in one tyredrops per cent below the recommended value. The system has to bere-initialised after each tyre change with the correct tyre pressure in all tyres.
