Hitting the Right NotesIf you’re looking for some authentic St. Louis Blues, then you’ve come to the right place. The National Blues Museum, St. Louis’ newest attraction (www.nationalbluesmuseum.org), honors their blues music heritage. The museum explores and preserves the historic significance of the Blues as the foundation of American music, celebrates the genre’s various styles, and recognizes the musicians who created, sustain, and advance the art form. The museum grants visitors a Blues music education, programming, and opportunities to create Blues music in a mixing booth.
Cue the ‘QueSt. Louis is all fired up about barbecue. Other than calling it mouth-watering, finger-licking, and totally satisfyingly terrific, St. Louis barbecue escapes pigeonholing. All sorts of styles and places flourish. All cuts and types of meats show up. On the other hand, a few distinguishing items set St. Louis apart. Locals like their barbecue scattered with variations on a theme of a sweet and savory, tomato-based sauce. The heat quotient depends on the added seasoning. In addition, St. Louis claims snoots, pork steak, and rib tips as hometown specialties.
