English For English this week, we are going to complete an ‘End of year’ booklet. Although we haven’t had a full year altogether, in school, you have still completed another year of your school life and it’s always nice to think about and reflect on how much you’ve achieved and grown. You can then look back at this in years to come and remember our class. This week we are going to think about:

- Who your friends are - Fun moments throughout the year - Your achievements - Your goals for next year

Page 2: Bluebell Class Home Learning Topic Land Ahoy · - A name that story quiz - The big end of year quiz - The story of the cautious caterpillar, which is a lovely story to help the children

- What has been your favourite part of school You can find the ‘End of year’ booklet on our class page. Each day this week, I would like you to complete a different section of your yearbook. You’re welcome to do it in any order you like. When completing each section, think about all the skills you have learnt and consolidated on this year and show these in your writing e.g. Nouns – A name of something Pronoun – A name of a person, place or date Adjectives – A describing word Verbs – A doing word Conjunctions – A word to extend your sentence e.g. and, but, because, or Simile – Describing something like something else Alliteration – An adjective and noun starting with same letter Capital letters, finger spaces, full stops Using our phonics to help with our spelling In class we will be completing the ‘friends’ page of our booklet. Thinking about who our friends are and why they have been such amazing friends. So who have been your close friends this year? Who did you play with a lot at break time? Why were they such great friends? You may want to write in each cloud about a different friend. Example below. My best friend is Joe because he always helped me when I found something tricky. My best friend is Stacey because she was funny and always made me laugh.

Afternoon Like last week, you are welcome to choose from a range of activities on the ‘Afternoon Activities’ document. We also have additional activities on our class page including:

- A name that story quiz - The big end of year quiz - The story of the cautious caterpillar, which is a lovely story to help

the children discuss their emotions with regards to transitioning up to Year 2. I read this to the children at the start of this academic year, to reassure them that it is perfectly normal and natural to be nervous and a little worried, but change is a positive thing. They loved the story and I am sure it would bring them some comfort to read it again.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Every Wednesday afternoon we’re going to have some ‘me’ time. This is a chance for us to slow down, take a breath and relax. It’s important that we think about how we are feeling and why we are feeling that way. So to start off with we’re going to have some quiet time. Here is a link to the relaxing music we listen to when the children come into class and during lessons. You’re welcome to choose your own relaxing music. Find a comfy place and sit quietly and just listen to the music. You may want to close your eyes or lay down. As you relax, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feel your tummy going in and out as you breathe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=857bt64SomQ Once you feel relaxed, have a think about these questions: How are you feeling? What are you thinking about?

Page 9: Bluebell Class Home Learning Topic Land Ahoy · - A name that story quiz - The big end of year quiz - The story of the cautious caterpillar, which is a lovely story to help the children

Are you worried about anything? How did you sleep last night? Whether you’re feeling sad or happy, angry or excited, worried or calm, it’s ok to feel that way. All these feelings are normal. During our Wellbeing Wednesday time we want to bring some calm and peace to our day. On the webpage there are a range of activities that you can choose from. Here are some other ideas you may want to do: -Read a book quietly to yourself -Draw a picture -Lay down and relax -Do some yoga Listen to the music as you complete your activity. Remember to take your time and think about your breathing. There’s no rush. Please complete your activity independently. In class we say affirmations to ourselves to help boost our self-esteem, mental health and wellbeing. So remember – You are a kind person. You are a smart person. You are cared for. You are loved.
