Brand New Chess Club is Meeting After School on Mondays This chess club is for students in 6th—12th grades and meets in Ms. Grace’s art room (room 311) from 3:15 p.m.—4:15 p.m. on Mondays.

All experience levels are welcome. If you are an expert or want to learn, come join the chess club.

Two Greenwood Teams Win Co-Championships Two teams from Greenwood were CO-CHAMPIONS of the Missouri State/Gloria Deo Academy Speech and Debate tour-nament last weekend! The teams of Oliver Grace/Jessica Parrish and David Cox/Dorian Khoshyomn both defeated teams from Park Hill High School to advance to the final round of the tournament. Both teams were also undefeated in the preliminary rounds of competition. Twenty one schools at-tended the tournament and the students earned prelim victo-ries against Springfield Central, Kickapoo, Parkview and Boli-var on their way to the championship.

This is the sixth tournament victory for the Blue Jays in

Policy Debate this year!

Oliver Grace also placed 2

nd in Informative Speaking

and Jessica Parrish placed 5

th in Original Orato-

ry (persuasive speaking). Dorian Khoshyomn was a semi-finalist (top 12) in International Extemporaneous Speaking and Lisa Carpenter was a semi-finalist in both Informative speaking and United States Extemporaneous Speaking. Also competing in the tournament were Abigail Cox, Zach Wehrenberg, Andrew

Wilslef, Eleanor Hilotin, and Logan Huyck.

The next competition for the team will be at the MSHSAA District

Qualifier the first weekend of March.

Dr. Burrell and the First Grade Class Make More Cards for Soldiers First Grade Visiting Artist, Dr. Rebecca Burrell, taught students to use their “imaginators" and guided

students as they created Val-animals. Students then used their creative cutting skills and knowledge

to make cards for our Marine and Sailor Pen Pals at Camp Pendleton.

High School Girls Swimming Results On Friday, February 7, in the JV session, Junior Shields Bartee placed 8th in 500Free. In the Varsity session, Junior Fiona Wu placed 6th in 100Fly and 11th in 100Back.

On Saturday, February 8, Fiona placed 6th in 100 Butterfly and she bumped up to 10th in 100 Back-stroke!

For HS swimming the top 32 girls in each event get to participate at State. Fiona Wu is currently ranked 39th in Backstroke and 30th in Butterfly. (Those odds are still good!) She will give freestyle a shot this Tuesday for our Last Chance meet.

Class 1 State is held at the Rec-Plex in St Peters MO Thursday Feb 20.

New Pep Band Played at Assembly Greenwood secondary students, faculty and staff were treated to the fun songs of our new pep band at the assembly for the LPA king on February 7. Thanks to Dr. Slater and the band students for forming this great new addition to our music program for events at Greenwood.

New Blue Jay Hats For Sale Parents, teens and elementary kids all love these new hats. They are one size fits all.

The hats are being sold by J-Force and the proceeds from the sale of the hats will go to Project Graduation.

The hats are great for sporting events to show school spirit!!
