Fairtrade seeks to transform trading structures and practices in favour of the poor and disadvantaged. The Fairtrade foundation provides an independent certification of the supply chain. Licensing use of the FAIRTRADE Mark as a consumer guarantee on products that are in accordance with internationally agreed Fairtrade standards. All goods carrying the Fairtrade logo must be produced by suppliers with a Fairtrade license. The Foundation is the UK member of Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO), which unites 21 labelling initiatives across Europe, Japan, North America, Mexico and Australia/New Zealand as well as producers worldwide.

This catalogue is printed on FSC paper.FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC runs a global forest certification system with two key components: Forest Management and Chain of Custody certification. This system allows consumers to identify, purchase and use timber and forest products produced from well-managed forests. All goods carrying the FSC logo or claiming to be FSC must be produced by a supplier with an FSC Chain of Custody certificate.

GOTS is recognised as the leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres worldwide. It defines high level environmental criteria along the entire supply chain of organic textiles and requires compliance with social criteria as well as environmental. Only textile products that contain a minimum of 70% organic fibres can become certified according to GOTS. All chemical inputs e.g. dyestuffs and auxiliaries used must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria and also the choice of accessories is limited under ecological aspects.

Best known within the foods stuffs sector the Bio Label, launched in September 2001 brings about clarity and uniformity for organic or eco products respectively. Not only can we rely on it but consumers can rely on it also: “If it says ‘Bio’ on the outside it contains organic products”. Only producers and manufacturers who comply with the provisions of the EU Organic Farming Regulation and subject themselves to the mandatory inspections may sell their products as organic or eco goods and label them accordingly with the Bio-Mark.
