    I)Story:HostilityAmongsttheRacesThehuge,multinationalfoundationcalledTyronmetitsdemisedueto"BloodyRoar",thebestialbeings'fight.ItissaidthatTyronFoundationhadengagedinsinisteractsconcerningtheproductsofartificially-madeandmilitarizedbestialbeings.Theseactsbecameasclearasdaylight,sotheirfatefellintothehandsofjustice.However,duetotheimageofbestialbeingswiththepowertoexceedhumanbeings,andTyron'swickedresearchjoinedwithtalessayi

    ng,"We,thebeasts,willopposethehumanraceandputthemingreatperil",theprejudicebetweenbothracescontinueson.

    Atthecenterofthegrowingpanic,peoplethattakeontherolesas"BeastHunters"becamewellknowntothepublic,thusamplifyingthehostilityandfeelingsofterrorthatarosedbetweenthehumanbeingsandthebestialbeings.Withthese"BeastHunters"present,everydaychanged.Ineveryareabestialbeingsaresufferingbysuppression,everysingleonesincetheinfluenceofthehuntershadappeared.Thebestialbeingsthencalledtheirsituation,"theBeastLiberat

    InBloodyRoar2,thereare7modespresent,eachofferingdifferentgameplay(slightly):

    ARCADE------Basicallytheregularmodeoftheonecanfind.Straightfromthearcadeitself,youhavetofightthrough7stages,eachrandomlyhostingoneofthe9selectablecharacters.Onceyoudefeatall7,you'llgototheFinalStage,whereyouwillhavetofightGadoasthelastboss.Ifyouplaystraightthroughwithoutcontinuing,you'llgotoaSpecialStage,whereyou'llhavetogotoe-to-toewithShenLong,thesecretcharacter.Ifyouplayanormalgame,(with1ormorecontinues)you'llseethereg

    ularending,whichshowsallthe9charactersdoingtheirbestcombo/juggleduringtheStaffRoll.PlayagreatgameandbeatShengLong,you'llgetthespecialStaffRollwhich'llpresentall11charactersdoingacombothatinvolvestheir"BeastDrive".Whileyoucanalwayscontinueifyoushouldloseagainstanyofthefirst8characters,youcannotcontinueifyouloseagainstShenLong.You'llautomaticallybetakentotheending,which'llbetheregularStaffRoll.

    -----ThisisaveryuniquemodetobeintroducedintotheBloodyRoarseries.Thiscanbelookedasthemissingpagesfromthegamemanual,(theactualmanualonlyspokeaboutthegameanditsfeatures.Aseparatepamphletillustratesthecharacters,fightingdescriptions,andtheirmoves)foryou'llgettolearnabouteachofthecharacters'personalstoryline,theirinteractionwiththeothercharacters,andhowtheywoulddealwiththeproblempresent.Allyouhavetodoisselectacharacter,(eachwithalittlehintabouttheirstorylineundertheirname)andbattlealongasyougetaglimpsemoreandmoreintothegame'splot,guidedwithmanypictureillustrationsoftheactiontakingplace.SimilartotheArcademode,you'llgetadifferentendingdependingonwhetheryoucontinueornot.

    SURVIVAL--------Inthismode,youhavetofightthrough1-round,60-minutesetstagesagainsteachofthecharactersinthegame.Likeitsnameyouwillhavetofightin99battles,facingeachofthecharactersmorethanonce,wherethedifficultyincreasewitheveryturn.Yourlifebarwillnotbesetfullforeach

    stagesasregular.Instead,howmuchhealththat'llberecovereddependsonhowmuchdamageyoureceivedfromeachfightandhowlongittookyou.Ifyoulose95%ofhealthandwinbytime,you'llstartthenextmatchwithjustthat5%healththatremained.Ifyouwanttoalwaysstartwithafulllifebar,practicehard,masteryourattacks&combos,andfinisheachmatchasquicklyaspossible,foritdoesn'tgeteasy.

    (Notethatfinishingthismodeisanear-impossiblefeat,forthedifficultywillincreasetothatinsanely-hardlevel.Ifyou'reapuregamemaster,(unlikeme)youcouldprobablygetcloseenoughtocompletingthismode.However,ifyou

    haveaGameShark/ProActionReplayhandyalongwithacoupleofcheats....)

    WATCH-----SelectthefighterstofightandjustwatcheachmatchastheCPUtakescontrolofbothfighters.Agoodwaytolearnaboutallthesecretsandtricksthateachcharacterpossess.Herearesomeofthecontrolsyouhaveduringthismode:

    -Select=Removeon-screendisplay(Lifebar,Beastgauge,etc.)-R1=Changecameraviews

    -Sq,X,orO=Resetcameraviewbacktonormal

    NotethattheCPU'sdifficultyhereissetpermanentlyto"BloodyHard"mode,sobereadytoseesomefuriousfights.

    III)DefensiveSystem

    ThemethodsofdefensehavebeenfocusedonmoreinBR2,havingabigeffectonthegameplay.Forstarters,readbelowonthewayacharacter'sdefensecaneffectthegame.

    GUARDINGThewayyouguardattacksstillgoesbytheheightoftheattackexecutedatyou.Here'sachartwrittenupfromthegamemanualthatchartsabouttheproperwaytoguardagainstanattack:

    Forthischart,a"O"meansthatanattackcanbeblockedinthepositionyou'rein.an"X"meansitisnotpossibletoblockinthatposition.A"--"meansthatadefensedoesn'tapply,fortheattackwillnotcomeincontact.Notethatyoucanonlyblockonceintheair.Afterwards,you'llbehitnomatterwhat.

    Here'salistonthe4differentheightsinwhichmostattackscanattackfrom.Notethataerialattackswillnotbeincludedinthis,forjustaboutallofthemhavetobeblockedwithaHighGuard:

    High(H):Attackaimsatheadlevel.AHighGuardcandefendagainstthis,whileacrouchorLieDownwillkeepyouunderharm.Middle(M):Attackaimsamidsectionlevel.Theseattacksyouhavetobemoreawareof,fortheycanonlybeblockedhigh.ALowGuardisuselessinthiscase,butLieDownwillstillworkjustfine.

    Low(L):Attackaimsatleg/waistlevel.Unliketheothers,thiscanbeblockedinanymanner,makingitnotasusefulingettingthroughanopponent'sdefense.Ground(G):Attackaimsatfootlevel.ToolowforaHighGuard,thesecanonlybeblockedbyaLowGuard.ThiswillalsobeatLieDown.

    Thesewillbeusedineachcharacter'sbasicmoveslist,tolabeltheheightofthoseattacks.Theabbreviatedformwillbeused.

    Keepinganeyeontheheightofanattackisdifficult,whichiswhyit'sbesttogetusedtofallingintodefenseinasmart,calmmanner.Ifyoudon'tknowtheheightonwhichtheattackwillcomefrom,(unlessyoumemorizedtheopponent'smoves)trytowatchitasitcomesandjudgeitsmotion,beforeyouchoosethebestwaytodefendagainstit.Ifyoucanguess(orevenknow)theheightoftheattack,thinkabouthowyoucanfollowupwithanattackofyourown.Forinstance,ifyouseeAlicecomingwithalowkickattack,alowguardmaybegoodforprotection,butifyoucanhopabovetheattackandcounterattack,youcangettheupperhandinthefight.Studywell.

    LIGHTVSHEAVYInthegamingworldofBR2,therearenowtwodifferenttypesofguardsyoucanuse,eachwiththeirownpurpose.ThesetwoguardsarecalledtheLightguardandtheHeavyguardrespectfully.TheLightguardisexecutedfromtheneutralpositiononthekeypad,thatis,youpressnothing.(incaseofalowattack,youpressdownonlyforLightguard)Itworkslikearegularguardand,unliketheHeavyg

    uard,yourrecoverytimeisveryshort.Duetothis,youcancounterattackalmostsoonafteryoublockanattack.However,youcannotblock"GuardBreak"attacksfromtheLightGuard.(this'llbediscussedalittlebitfurtherlater)TheHeavyguardwillprobablybetheguardchosenfavoritebymanyduetohabitofitsmotion.TheHeavyguardcanbeexecutedbyeitherpressingintheoppositedirectionfromyouropponent(pressingbackwardsonthekeypad),orbypressingtheR1button.(which'llputyouinaguardpositioneveniftheoppositionisn'tattacking)Whileit'snotpossibletocounterattackbecauseoftheslowrecoverytimefromthisguarding

    method,itwillprotectyoufromanyattack,including"GuardBreak"attacks.Eachguardhasitsusage,sotrytomasterbothandusethemwhenneeded.

    DEFENSEASAMEANSTOATTACKJusttostartoff,mysuggestiontousingeachofthetwoguardsistonotpressbackonthekeypadunlessyouwanttowalkbackwards.RelyontheR1button.Thatway,it'llbemuchmoreeasiertodifferentiatebetweenLightandHeavyguard.Nowbacktothesubject,eachguardcanhelpinoffensivemeans:

    -GuardEscape:DonefromaLightguardbypressingforwardjustasyo

    ublockanattack,this'llusuallyputyououtofharm'spathandallowforamoresafer,carefreecounterattackofchoice.Thiscanbedone:

    -Whilestanding-Whilecrouching-Intheair

    -GuardAttack:ImplicatestheattributesofaLightguard,foryouwillbeprotectedagainsthighandmidattacks.Theonlythingthat'llstopyouarelowattacks,throws,andGuardBreakattacks.

    -CancellingCommandMoves:BypressingtheR1(Heavyguard)buttonwhendoinganyofthequarter-circleattacks,youcancancelthematmidpoint.Thisishelpfulforfakingouttheopposition,cancelinganattackdonebyaccident,orjustcancellinganattackbecausethesituationnolongercallsforit.Whileit'seasiertodothiswithaGuardAttack,itmaynotbesowithanotherCommandmove.

    -MotionStopper:PressingtheR1buttonwhileyou'reinmotion(walki

    ng,dashing,crawling,orbackstepping)willmakeyouautomaticallystopinyourtracks.Agreatwaytotodropintodefensewhenanattackisheadingatyouwhileyou'removing,especiallywhileyou'rebacksteppingaway.

    GUARDBREAKMentionedbeforeweremovescalled"GuardBreak".GuardBreaksareattacksthatflashwithlight

    beforeexecution.ThiscanrangefromasingleattacktoacomboattacktoevenaCommandmove.InthecaseofaGuardBreak:

    -CanonlybeblockedbyaHeavyGuard-Stuns/knocksdownanyoneinaLightGuard-IfhitwhileinaLightGuard,you'llusuallylose(lessthan)halfofthedamagethanifitwereacleanhit-Canbeblockedonthegroundandintheair-AllGuardBreakshitfromeitherhighlevelormidlevel**

    Whilethere'sahandfulwheninhumanform,alotmoreofeachcharacter'sattackswillturnintoGuardBreaksinbeastform,makingitdifficulttorelyonaLightguard.Whileit'squitedifficulttotryandmemorizeeachcharacterandwhichattackisaGuardBreakandwhich'llturnintoaGuardBreakoncebeastorized,theonlywaytoavoidthemisthroughgoodjudgementandtheHeavyguardbutton.

    Justlikeitspredecessor,theBeastButtonisstillpresent,allowingeachcharactertotransformintotheir"beast"form.However,there'salotofneattricksaddedtotransformation:

    -TRANSFORM!:LikeinBR1,youcantransforminthestandardmethod,whichisstandingstillandhittingthe

    Beastbutton.Thiscanalsobedoneintheairaswell.

    -DASH&TRANSFORM!:Again,thismethodisstillinthegame.JustrunandhittheBeastbuttonto"beastorize"andchargeinatthesametime.

    -ATTACK&TRANSFORM!:Ifyouwanttotransformsafely,butnotobviously,dooneoftheCommandmoveswhilehittingtheBeastbutton.You'llexecuteyourBeastCommandmoveandtransformatthesametime.GoodforsurpriseattacksandgettingintoBeastmodewithoutanyproblems.

    -COMBO&TRANSFORM!:Withinthemiddleofacombos,hittingtheBeastbuttonwil

    lallowyoutotransformwhilecontinuingtheassault.Thiscanonlybedoneinsomecombos,whichhaveanextensiontoaddinginBeastcombosandattacks.Withthis,theoppositionwillhavetokeepguessingtheoutcomeofyourassaultasyoutripthemupandtakecontrol!

    Notethatifyoudoaregulartransformation,(non-attacking)you'llbeinvincibleasyoubecomesurroundedbyanauraofenergy.Ontheotherhand,youcanbehitasyouperformanyoftheothertransform-&-attackmethods.

    It'snowimportanttofrequentlychangeintoBeastmode,foritpossessesalotofadvantagesthatyouwon'thaveasahuman.Thesefeaturesare:
