MISSION STATEMENT: Blessed Trinity Catholic Church Stewardship Community recognizes Jesus is Lord. We believe that
our Time, Talent and Treasure are gifts from God to be used for the spiritual, educational and social needs of
our community, the Diocese and the world at large, especially the poor.
STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
Today we remember the three wise men from the East who came to pay homage to the infant Jesus,
bringing Him rich gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gifts we bring—our time, service, and some
share of what we earn for the work we do—are equally precious in His sight.

WORD OF LIFE
“When I meet another parent of a child with Down
Syndrome, there is usually a moment of instant
recognition and understanding. Our eyes meet, and
we smile conspiratorially, as if we’re in on the same
secret: the fundamental truth that every life is a good
and perfect gift. …Our love for our children has
nothing to do with their abilities. We love them
simply because of who they are, and understanding
this teaches us how to truly love everyone.”

As our celebration of Christmas continues, today we observe the great feast of The Epiphany of the Lord. The word “epiphany” comes from Greek and means manifestation or appearance. The stewardship way of life is one in which we live in grateful response to God’s countless manifestations in our lives. Our Gospel passage, from Matthew, has much to teach us about stewardship, through the actions of the magi. As good stewards, the magi were watching for manifestations of God’s presence in their lives. “We have seen the star at its rising,” they say. Good stewards are keenly aware of the “star” of God’s presence and His gifts in their lives. It is this awareness that fills them with gratitude and the desire to both worship God and share His gifts with others. The magi, upon seeing the manifestation of God’s presence in their lives, “were overjoyed.” Good stewards, who live with the awareness of God’s presence and gifts to them, simply can’t help but be filled with joy. Not necessarily the fleeting and superficial kind of joy the world promises through wealth or power, but rather the deep, unalterable joy only God can give. Finally, the magi were so filled with awe upon encountering the newborn Jesus, they prostrated themselves before him and “opened their treasures and offered him gifts.” This is precisely why good stewards generously share their material gifts — as a loving act of worship to an extravagantly loving God. Let us rejoice in God’s manifestations in our lives and be watchful for the new ways He is calling us to share ourselves and our gifts in gratitude to our King in the year ahead.

Pope John Paul II's papacy is marked
by the ways he engaged with and
was loved by the youth. Scores of

his encouragement to respond to Jesus' call to follow Him
during this unique and critically important time of life. To them
he writes: “In you there is hope, for you belong to the future,
just as the future belongs to you.”

Pope Quote
Saint Pope John XXIII prayed for a “New Pentecost” as he convened Vatican II. Soon after its conclusion, the Charismatic Renewal spontaneously erupted throughout our Catholic Church as it manifested Gifts of the Spirit such as healing, prophecy & tongues just as after Pentecost.
Then Pope Paul VI was slow to embrace this Pentecostal Renewal, but encouraged by Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI), he did warmly embrace this outpouring of the Holy Spirit, saying, “the Church and the world need more than ever that ‘miracle of Pentecost should continue in history’....Nothing is more necessary to this increasingly secularized world ….How then could this spiritual renewal not be good fortune for the church and for the world?”
Come, visit BT’s charismatic prayer group. We meet every Thursday, 7-8:30pm in the Adult Care center. Find the “more” that God is offering! Call Richard or Katy for info, 307-9009.

PEACE & SOCIAL JUSTICE
Coffee is the second highest traded commodity in
the world and 50% of it is grown on small family
farms in Central & South America, Asia, & Africa.
The majority of small family farmers are living in
poverty. FAIR TRADE gives farmers another way to
sell their products. Instead of importers buying their
products through brokers, exporters, and
middlemen, they can purchase directly from small
farm cooperatives. The farmer is guaranteed to
make a profit and companies are guaranteed that
the price they are paying is going back to the
communities in which the product is grown. Please
help support these small farmers and buy FAIR
TRADE coffee, tea, cocoa, & olive oil we are selling
after Mass next weekend. We now have single serve
coffee.

Holiday Help THANK YOU! This Thanksgiving, Brother’s Keeper prepared and served
over 550 meals at the soup kitchen, delivered over 100
meals to the homebound, and gave food and turkeys to
130 families this year.
For Christmas, we sponsored over 300 families, including
600 children, providing gifts and food for Christmas. Our
partnership with Toys for Tots was a big help, which
allowed us to expand the number of toy donations we
received and the number of families/children we were
able to help at Christmas.
Brother’s Keeper would like to thank the following who
helped us with our annual Holiday Help programs. It was
a full parish community effort!
Thanks to the…
• Soup Kitchen volunteers and donors,
• drivers who delivered meals to the homebound,
• all parishioners who donated toys,
• all parishioners who donated food bags,
• all parishioners who donated money to buy ham/ turkeys,
• all volunteers who worked after Masses to collect donations,
• Angels in Arms for collecting and donating toys,
• Blessed Trinity School for collecting and donating toys,
• Covenant Mission Team who helped to collect, move, and organize the donated food and toys,
• TCHS National Honor Society and students who donated over $700 to buy turkeys,
• Brother’s Keeper interviewers and volunteers,
• The Council of Catholic Women who prepared the grocery bags for food donations,
• The Knights of Columbus for use of their hall,
and the following individuals who shared their time and talents to help our clients during the Holidays; Pam Bourg, Kelli Carvhalo, Gabriella Carvhalo, Victor & Marilyn Carvhalo, Pam McBride & Crew, Meagan McBride, Stephanie Nelson, Linda Smith, Trish Ravenhill, Tatiana D’Angelo, Veryl Ferguson, and Eddie Rivera.
Dear Fr. Pat and all our friends,
I take this opportunity to send you fraternal greetings from Blessed Trinity Nalweyo. Our hearts are filled with Joy for God has love us so much that he has sent his only Son so that non of us may perish.
I pray that the Lord who is now with us gives you Joy and happiness, good health and the grace to love and serve Him in His people.
We are grateful to you for the love we have shared in the passed liturgical year and the missions that have by the grace of God been accomplished. Here we say glory be to God.
I pray that the birth of Christ continues to inspire each one of us with love for holiness and renew our personal commitments to our God.
On this day we remember our weak missionaries who dedicated their life and resources to grow the mission at Nalweyo and else where. That the new King gives them strength in their hearts and feel loved by Him.
We continue to pray for our departed friends especially those who have contributed generously to our missions and the most recent one being Mama Gladys that they may see the glory of God whom they served with great passion.
Merry Christmas!
Fr. John Paul
Pastor Blessed Trinity Nalweyo
