Retailers Lengthen Black Friday Weekend

with Earlier Sales

1) Costco,Target,Macy’s, JCPenneyandWalmartareallofferingonlineBlackFridaydealsearlierthisyeartoaccommodatethegrowingtrendofconsumersshoppingonlinemoreandstartingtheir holiday shopping earlier. Costco is starting its holiday savings for its pre-Black Friday sale earlier this year, onNovember 11, as compared to lastyear’sstartdateofNovember20.

Lastyear,CostcoofferedpromotionsonNovember20-30,November27-29andNovember26-30.Thisyear,withCostco’sstrategyofstartingitspromotionsearlier,thewholesalecompanyisofferingavarietyofsalesfordifferentperiodsofthemonth.The setdatesare:November11-17 (in-warehouseandonline),November18-23 (in-warehouseonly),November18-24 (online-only), November 18-28 (in-warehouse only), November 24-28 (online-only) and November 25-28 (in-warehouseonly).

Costco is repeating its electronics-focused promotions from last year, including Xbox and PlayStation consoles, Nikoncameras,HPlaptops,SamsungandVIZIOtelevisions.ClothingandjewelryarealsobeingpromotedatasimilaramountthisBlackFridayaslastyear.
