BISOL premium mounting solutions for photovoltaics combine superior design and durability for extremely easy installation and long-term performance. Only carefully selected, high-quality materials are used: all quick-mounting rails are made of aluminium EN-AW 6063 T66, and all roof attachments are made of stainless steel 1.4301 (AISI 304).

The load carrying capacity of all understructure elements is calculated in accordance with the European EC Eurocode standard under the following conditions:

• Height above sea level: 400 m (1,312')• Snow load zone: A2• Wind load zone: 2• Building height: max. 12 m (9' 4")• Roof pitch: 30°• Solar panel weight: 18.5 kg (40 lbs)• Standard BISOL module size: 1,649 × 991 × 40 mm (64.92" x 39.02" x 1.575")

In addition to the above-mentioned standard conditions, all BISOL rails can be used in any snow or wind load zone. Depending on the snow and wind load zones, the maximum span of profiles may differ.

MOUNTING THE PV MODULES ONTO THE BISOL 40 QUICK-MOUNTING RAILS

BISOL photovoltaic modules should always be attached to the standard BISOL 40 quick-mounting rails which allow for easy and quick mounting of the PV modules. With the innovative click-system, no pre-drilling is necessary as the fixing elements can be inserted directly into the mounting rail.

BISOL 80 quick-mounting rail is suitable for large span buildings and sites where greater loads are expected. It is also the basis for mounting the BISOL triangular understructure.

L-SHAPE SECTIONS 60/60/4

BISOL 60/60/4 aluminium angle sections are the basis for BISOL triangular understructures which are suitable for flat roofs. Such L-shape understructures are lightweight, robust and extremely adaptable. BISOL L-shape sections can be used for several different types of triangle understructures, depending on the roof characteristics.

MIDDLE CLAMP

END CLAMP

The aluminium middle clamp is used to connect BISOL photovoltaic modules.

The aluminium end clamp is used to attach BISOL photovoltaic modules at the row’s ends.

Fixed bracket - the affordable solution for the most common roofs with standard tile sizes.

The mounting brackets for pitched roofs with clay tiles are attached to the supporting wooden roof understructure via M6 wood screws. The mounting bracket with an adjustable hook is suitable for different types of clay tiles.

Adjustable bracket - the adjustable hook makes this mounting bracket suitable for use on non-standard roofs. The small elongated hole at the base plate allows for a maximum adjustment of 15 mm (0.59") in height.

Double adjustable bracket - suitable for non-standard roofing. The vertically adjustable end of the hook allows the installer to compensate for uneven roofing. The bracket can be adjusted in height for a maximum of 15 mm (0.59") at the base plate (first or lower joint) and 50 mm (1.9") at the second (upper) joint.

MOUNTING BRACKET FOR TRAPEZOIDAL SHEET METAL ROOFS

The stainless steel bracket, which attaches to the trapezoidal sheet metal roofing via 5.5 x 25 mm (1") self-locking screws, is equipped with butyl tape insulation at the bottom for better contact between the bracket and roofing, resulting in an excellent waterproof seal.

ROOF FASTENING SCREW FOR PITCHED ROOFS (trapezoidal and wave shape sheet metal roofs)

The roof fastening screw is attached to the wooden understructure through the roofing. The thread of the screw allows for the height adjustment of the plate which is attached to BISOL mounting rails, while the hexagonal head of the fastener enables easy installation using only a cordless screwdriver.

The stainless steel cross connector is used to connect the two intersecting mounting rails. With the bolt connection, no pre-drilling is necessary.

BISOL PLASTIC BASE

The innovative plastic base was developed specifically for use with BISOL photovoltaic modules. The base allows for the construction of an aerodynamic structure without having to penetrate the roof, and is particularly suitable for flat roofs. Its design reflects an expert understanding of the laws of thermodynamics, providing more efficient cooling of the photovoltaic modules.Made of UV-resistant polyethylene of high density, these bases exhibit good mechanical properties at high and low temperatures. BISOL plastic base weighs much less than the typical aluminium parts and is extremely easy to install. Thus, the weight and costs of the base can be reduced by up to 20%, while the time it takes to set it up can be reduced by more than 80%. The base is stackable for easy transport - 40 pieces can fit onto a standard palette. The inclination of the PV-module with regard to the roof is 12,5° which enables the optimum ratio between the energy yield and the number of PV-modules on the roof.

Page 13: BISOL Solar Company: PV Mounting Systems 2011

BISOL plastic bases can be linked together laterally and longitudinally by using 50/50/5 mm (2.0"/2.0"/0.2") aluminium brackets, giving the power plant greater homogeneity on the roof so as to provide for better resistance against the atmospheric influences. In the case of larger wind loads on exposed zones (e.g. roof edges), the plastic base can be loaded with extra ballast to ensure the stability of the structure in unfavourable wind conditions (wind gusts).

ALUMINIUM TRIANGULAR UNDERSTRUCTURE

The aluminium triangular understructure is constructed from L-shape sections, and is suitable for flat roofs. Such understructures are extremely flexible, as they allow for inclination adjustment of the understructure and the number of modules in height, while the bolts connections reduce the necessary installation time and save the costs of welding. The triangular understructure can easily be integrated with other BISOL elements.

In addition to the custom-made triangular understructures, prefabricated BISOL triangular understructures are also available. The prefabricated triangular understructure with riveted joints further reduces the costs and time of installation. For protection against strong winds, the aluminium triangular understructure can be equipped with the specially designed windshield, allowing the installation of structures on locations with higher wind loads.
