The 2013 season was Bishop Chatard’s first in Class 4A after 16 seasons in Class 3A.

The Trojans’ regional loss at New Palestine snapped a streak of 12 straight regional titles (all in Class 3A).

Head coach Vince Lorenzano is one of six coaches in IHSAA history to win at least six state football titles.

The 2013 season, which ended with a 9-4 record, was Bishop Chatard’s first single-digit win season since it finished 4-6 in 2000.

Due to the IHSAA’s tournament success factor, Bishop Chatard must at least win a semi-state title in 2014 to remain in Class 4A for the next two-year cycle (2015-16 through 2016-17).

The Warriors have been eliminated from the postseason by Bishop Chatard in each of the last two seasons and nine of the last 12 seasons.

The Hawks are in their second season in the recently created Class 5A. They share a sectional with Anderson, Cathedral, Richmond and Zionsville.

Decatur Central racked up a state single-game record 875 yards of total offense in its 83-78 loss to Perry Meridian.

The Hawks averaged 46.5 points per game last season, ranking eighth in the state in scoring average.

The Hawks have lost seven consecutive postseason games, with the last win coming in a sectional semifinal win at Terre Haute North in 2007.

With a 5-1 record in the Mid-State Conference, the Hawks finished in second place, one game behind 6-0 Whiteland.

The Trojans won the Eastern Indiana Conference 4A Division last season with a 3-0 record, extending their string of four straight conference titles.

East Central won four games last season, representing its low-est total since a three-win season in 1990.

Roncalli’s two postseason wins over East Central (2002, 2003) occurred during postseasons that ended in state titles.

The Flashes are in a four-team Class 6A Sectional with Tech, Southport and Perry Meridian.

Franklin Central’s last winning season was in 2007, when the team went 9-3 and advanced to the sectional final.

The Flashes won consecutive Class 2A State Championships in 1980, 1981 and 1982. They are one of nine programs to win at least three consecutive state titles.

Franklin Central head coach Burt Austin ranks 14th on the IHSAA football career scoring list. Austin scored 587 points for his career (1980-82) and was a member of three state championship teams at Franklin Central.

Franklin Central is the only Class 6A school in metro Indian-apolis that plays on a natural grass field. The other 16 area 6A schools play on an artificial surface.

Lebanon head coach Kent Wright is the son of Sheridan head coach Larry “Bud” Wright, who is the winningest football coach in Indiana history (385 wins).

The Tigers only sectional title occurred in 1997, which is also the last time the program played in a sectional final.

Last season, the Tigers finished 5-2 in the Sagamore Confer-ence, good for a second-place tie with North Montgomery. The Tigers last conference title came in 2006.

The Tigers won six straight games to start the 2013 for the program’s longest winning streak since 2004.

The Artesians averaged 40.3 points per game last season and were one of 29 teams statewide to average at least 40 points.

The Quakers have started a season 3-0 in three of the last five seasons and in each of the last two seasons.

Roncalli and Plainfield faced off in four straight seasons in the postseason from 2009 through 2012. Plainfield won the 2009 matchup, then the Rebels won the following three meetings.

From 2006 through 2010, the Quakers averaged 8.8 wins per season.

The Quakers’ last win in the month of October was a 38-21 win at Greenwood on October 15, 2010. Since then, they’ve dropped 11 straight October games.

After going eight seasons (2003-10) without a winning cam-paign, the Crusaders have averaged 10.7 wins over the last three seasons.

The Crusaders are entering their second season in Class 2A after moving up via the IHSAA’s success factor prior to last season.

Head coach Ott Hurrle has led the Crusaders to four appear-ances in the state finals. They won back-to-back Class 2A titles in 1990 and 1991, then lost in the Class 1A final in 2011 and 2012.

Last season’s 10-win campaign represents the program’s sev-enth double-figure win season.

Over the last three seasons, three of the Crusaders’ eight regu-lar-season losses were to Roncalli.
