This past Sunday, members of B.R.E.W. FIU hosted their first annual Biscayne Brewers Bash in the pavilion of the Kovens Conference Center overlooking beautiful Biscayne Bay. The event hosted 15 local brewers serving over 40 different micro-brews. There was also a booth for beer bread and beer butter. The main idea was to bring together Florida brewers and focus on Florida beer. "A lot of Florida homebrewers only know about each other through Facebook, so our aim was to bring them together and to pull the community together through this event," said Matthew Weintraub, a homebrew-workshop teaching assistant and one of the founders of B.R.E.W. FIU.

FIU's North campus was host to "Biscayne Brewers Bash," which displayed 40 differentmicrobrews from Florida brewers.

This past Sunday, members of B.R.E.W. FIU hosted their first annual Biscayne Brewers Bash in thepavilion of the Kovens Conference Center overlooking beautiful Biscayne Bay. The event hosted 15 localbrewers serving over 40 different micro-brews. There was also a booth for beer bread and beer butter.The main idea was to bring together Florida brewers and focus on Florida beer.

"A lot of Florida homebrewers only know about each other through Facebook, so our aim was to bringthem together and to pull the community together through this event," said Matthew Weintraub, ahomebrew-workshop teaching assistant and one of the founders of B.R.E.W. FIU.

Beverage management professor Barry Gump serves IPA, Sweet Stout, Pale Ale, Pilsner and evenroot beer to thirsty students.

Caramelized onion beer butter gets slabbed on "Buddhist style roll" made with polenta and "SpentGrain" baguettes

Boynton Beach's Due South Brewing Co. serves up a rich malty caramel cream ale.

Hoops Sports Bar & Grill poured "Florida Avenue Beers" with bottled blueberry beer and a sharp

IPA style.

"Most Wanted Brewery" provided mugshot backdrops as well as interesting brews like Hops &Robbers Molasses Ginger Pale Ale and Weiss Guy Hefeweizen.

Funky Buddha Brewery kept the zen vibes flowing ­­ they feature over 110 craft beers at their BocaRaton lounge and brewery.

Florida's largest craft brewer "Florida Beer Company" servedup Swamp Ape IPA, Key West Southernmost Wheat, Key WestSunset Ale and Florida Lager.

Wynwood Brewing Company's Luis Brignoni reminisces about hisfirst pouring event at Wynwood Green back in February and also talksabout the process of opening up Wynwood's first brewery within thecoming months.

4 hours of local Florida beer on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. A huge applause for the FIU team that putthis unique event together.
