About the routeFrom Gas Street Basin in the city centre to Minworth in the east, about nine miles of the Birmingham & Fazeley canal lies within Birmingham. The towpath provides a traffic free route for commuting to Midpoint Park, Fort Dunlop or the city centre and step free access to the Newhall Valley Route to Sutton Coldfield. Take the family for some fun at Star City or Plantsbrook Nature Reserve or hunt for a bargain in the shops at Castle Vale or The Fort.

Birmingham Cycle Revolution and Canal and River Trust have recently resurfaced the towpath with a clean, well-drained, grippy grit surface.
