market covers Turkey and countries nearby such as Iraq, Azerbaijan, Romania, Slovenia, Macedonia, Hungary and Armenia, which is fiercely contested by many national and multinational contractors.

Rising to the ChallengeBioland Aritma has earned its reputation of quality through being subcontracted for the manufacture of water treatment equipment and providing turnkey solutions to the region. Mr Nazmi Öztürk, Sales and Marketing Manager for Bioland Aritma, revealed the reason for the company’s success: ‘We have a dynamic work-force and a flexible production infrastructure which keep us competitive and powerful in the market’, he adds, ‘We are a team of engineers from different disciplines such as mechanical, environmental and chemical engineering’.

Remaining competitive is a challenge for any company; Bioland Aritma maintains its own research and development programme, which is in part supported by funding from Turkish Entities. This helps the company remain innovative and competitive. As part of the Sontek Group, the company’s annual turnover is $3 million, the majority of which comes from the manufacture of Wastewater Treatment Equipment. Mr Öztürk believes that partnerships with foreign companies give Bioland Aritma access to greater innovation and diversification: ‘We are trying to focus on new technologies which will help us while competing with others’.

Bioland Aritma provides good quality equipment, and prices its goods and services keenly to compete in its local market. By developing excellent long-term relationships with its suppliers, costs are kept to a minimum. Mr Öztürk explained: ‘Suppliers are, of course, quite important to us due to competition in costs and new advances in products we buy from them. Local service is essential for aftersales. In addition, Bioland is attentive to its customers needs; providing ample opportunity for feedback, and adhering to strong ethical principles to bolster its client’s confidence. ‘We visit them regularly to keep in close contact. We pay respect to our customer’s privacy’, outlined Mr Öztürk.

Social Concerns and SolutionsBioland Aritma’s principles extend beyond the market place; it also maintains a strong stance on environmental responsibility. Beyond its primary function of providing potable water and the treatment of wastewater, the company conducts its business mindful of the impact its operations can have on the environment. Mr Öztürk refers to this policy as ‘respectful manufacture’; safe-guarding both people and the world around them, with the health and welfare of future generations posing a very real concern for the company. The solutions provided by Bioland Aritma come equipped with pollution prevention; minimising the impact its facilities have on the environment and avoiding compounding purification problems for the future.

With seventeen years of experience in water purification, Bioland Aritma offers clients a choice of packaging and bespoke design solutions. The company takes advantage of innovative technological equipment in many of its facilities; removing the need for operator intervention. Larger or more complex sites however, still require qualified monitoring staff. To this end, Bioland Aritma provides all the necessary technical and safety training required. All facilities, whether automated or staffed, are backed up by a sophisticated service support team. This is available to the company’s clients on a 24 hour basis.

Demand for water supplies has risen due to both population growth and the expansion of industry. When set against the back-drop of a general decline in water supplies, the treatment and reclamation of the available water resources becomes essential.
