Not too shabby. I t’s getting to be crunch time for the Eagles, who need to rebound this weekend after getting swept in their second Golden State Athletic Conference series of the 2015 season. Unfortunately for Biola this series comes against the top team in the GSAC, a team that has just one loss this year, and it happened to come in a 2-1 series win over the team that swept Biola last weekend. No. 20 Concordia enters this series at Biola coming off of a sweep of their own as they took down Arizona Christian in a three-game series in Irvine over last weekend. The two teams sit at the top and the bottom of the confer- ence standings very early on in this season, but the results of this series could go a long way to changing the make-up of the conference and the confidence of both sides involved in this one. For Biola, these three games are all about the rebound and getting back to playing the kind of game they’re accustomed to and hopefully seeing good results. That begins with staff ace, Garrett Picha, who was roughed up in his first outing of the season in a 15-5 loss in the series-opener against The Master’s College last weekend. Picha allowed eight runs in three innings of work in that one. His shortest outing of the 2014 season was 5.0 innings and he only allowed more that four runs three times in his 12 starts. A rebound from him and a win on Friday would help Biola’s confidence headed into Saturday. Outside of that uncharacter- istic outing by Picha last Friday, the Eagles have been getting sound starting pitching, espe- cially from Eric Diomartich, who is likely to start the opener on Saturday. Despite being saddled with an 0-2 mark, Diomartich has two “quality starts” this year, going at least six innings in both with fewer than three earned runs allowed. He’s actually al- lowed just three earned runs total in his 12.1 innings while racking up 11 Ks. Biola’s starting pitching and bullpen will be key against a CUI team that has a combined ERA of 3.10 this year, which is less than half of Biola’s team ERA. Biola Baseball has a special guest this weekend named Colton Ribeiro. Colton and his family are good friends of the team and he will be throwing out the first pitch on Saturday. dixie state universityAndrew Smith has been a journeyman through his first few

years of college, but it seems as if in his senior season he’s found a great sticking point as Biola’s starting shortstop, and surpris-ingly “relief ace.”

Smith has impressed with the bat and glove early on this season and, despite pitching for the first time since Little League, has posted 2.0 scoreless innings on the mound with 2 Ks.
