You and your Circle Group have recently been named the Student Committee for an Earth Day event in your community Earth Day occurs on April 22 each year and it always has a theme Watch for the upcoming 2016 Earth Day theme If your group could choose the theme what would you choose and why See link below for themes from past years What types of activities would you have for children Come up with 6 stations for children These stations should be activities that encourage creativity using Science Technology Engineering Art andor Math What type of activities would you have for adults If you have food or other items on site what would they be How could everything you do support the idea of Earth Day Draw a map (by hand or on computer) to show how the event would be laid out in your town Create your presentations and any supporting research and other evidence that will encourage participation in your community

The Governor of Georgia has asked your group to represent students on a panel to find a solution to the question How can we grow our local economy while still protecting the diversity of our ecosystem What type of businesses would your group recommend and why How would your group suggest managing population growth with the least amount of impact on the environment Talk to local environmentally focused businesses such as recycling centers alternative power providers locally grown produce providers and green contractors

Challenge 2 Action through design

Your group has been asked to create a plan to renovate the schoolrsquos campus with the environment in mind How would your school differ from other schools in the area How would you respect the ecosystem while still having all the schoolrsquos need for space met This would involve meeting with your schoolrsquos administration and building maintenance staff Ask a local architect to show your group how they begin planning for a renovation project Talk to local leaders of environmental protection agencies to help you plan for wildlife needs Using Sketch Up or some other free technology design program to lay out the design for your school Then build a model to show the design layout of your school
