description

Done by group: Alieman_Creators School Name: Al Ieman school for girls Biodegradable Materials module: Students make, test and evaluate biodegradable films and gels. They use their knowledge gained during the workshop to design devices that release a dye in a controlled manner as they degrade. Finally they design their own biodegradable product Students decided to make a natural biodegradable pot. The main purpose of the project was to reduce the amount of waste and pollution caused by non-biodegradable plastic by making a safer, and more eco-friendly replacement which is the biodegradable plastic pot.

2. Comparing packing materials . Research: Hunting for biodegradable and non-biodegradable objects. Processing biodegradable materials and comparing their mechanical properties. Measuring the degradation rate of biodegradable materials. Designing a medicine- release capsules. 3. Materials which decompose by the action of microorganism. 4. Cotton Biodegradable bags Wood Hair 5. Procedure: Testing two different packing peanuts in water. Result: while testing the white and green peanut inside water we got the results shown in the table: White peanut Green peanut Starch Polystyrene Natural polymer Synthetic polymer Biodegradable Non-Biodegradable 6. have the same physical property which is protecting fragile items. 7. Biodegradable materials Non-biodegradable materials Are objects that degrade by nature . Materials that takes long time to decompose or may never decompose in a landfill no matter how long it is there. Ex: banana peels Ex: plastics, leather baseball gloves 8.
