He developed the passion for International Education and student recruitment while attending Georgia Southern University where he was an ambassador for international students. David is now pursuing his second career as the Director for the College of Charleston English Language Institute. He holds a Certificate in TESL, a Diploma in Land Economy and Valuation Survey (Estate Management) from University of Technology Jamaica and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Georgia Southern University. Innovative Approaches to Partnering Presented by: Joy Finch Whether you are coordinating a program with sister colleges, partnering with other training providers, blending your offerings with for-credit opportunities, or finding new ways to help businesses educate their employees, there are many ways to approach partnership offerings with a win-win focus. This presentation will highlight innovative approaches to partnerships that can expand your ability to serve your customer base with minimal costs and a potential for maximum benefits. BIO - Joy Finch joined Greenville Technical College in 2000 and was instrumental in launching the Economic Development and Corporate Training Division’s internationally recognized environmental, occupational health, safety and sustainability training. She has an MS in Environmental Management, a BA in Music (Piano Performance)/Humanities and she is a Certified Environmental Trainer. Joy is a past-president and long-time board member of both the National Environmental Information Association and the Carolinas Environmental Information Association and has served Education Chair for the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration and the Curriculum Committee Chair for the National Center for Healthy Housing. Rusty is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a B.A. in Business Administration/Regional Economic Development and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Internet and Data Privacy - What is it all about?Presented by: David Pfaehler Internet security gets a lot of play in our minds these days but many are not aware of the constant push by business and governments to implement technologies that are slowly eroding away at our individual right of privacy. This presentation will look at privacy concerns and a new privacy program initiative started in 2017 by Midlands Technical College.

BIO - David Pfaehler, faculty member, teaches Information Technology classes for the Corporate and Continuing Education division of MTC. Having 28 years of IT leadership experience in various industries allows him to bring a valuable perspective to classroom instruction. Mr. Pfaehler’s understanding of IT’s role in business allows him to focus the teaching of subjects not only from an academic viewpoint but with an appreciation for how a business will benefit from its use. Mr. Pfaehler has been teaching and inspiring students since 2010.

Recruiting Solutions: Using Your Division to Support Employers’ Hiring NeedsPresented by: Lauren Holland With unemployment rates hovering in the low single-digits, employers struggle to find quality candidates for open positions. The Corporate and Workforce Development Division at FDTC embarked on three new initiatives this past year to connect job seekers more easily with employers. The Division’s Manufacturing Skills Pre-Employment course, it’s Employment Readiness Services, and it Quick Jobs Open House events all provide valuable services to employers to support their recruitment of qualified candidates with important skills sets and soft skills knowledge

BIO - Lauren Holland is the Associate Vice President of Corporate and Workforce Development at Florence-Darlington Technical College.Prior to joining FDTC in March of 2016, Lauren worked previously as a Director of Programming in continuing education at Richmond Community College in North Carolina.She is a native of Kannapolis, North Carolina, and attended Appalachian State University, where she completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees.

She serves as a Member-At-Large on the SCAHCE Board, as well as on the Pee Dee Workforce Development Board, and was recently elected as Secretary-Treasurer of the S.C. Chief Continuing Education Officers peer group.

From Blight to Art to Hospital EmploymentPresented by: Nannette BongioviCome hear how a grant to provide artistic structures in a blighted Spartanburg neighborhood has turned into neighbors working and learning together to revitalize their community while earning national credentials and creating a pipeline of employment for the regional hospital. Welcome to the Northside Initiative!

BIO - Nannette Bongiovi, CPP is the Director of Corporate Training and Career Development at Spartanburg Community College (SCC). She has more than 10 years of experience working in Continuing Education, with the past three years at SCC. In her time at SCC, Nannette has been instrumental in coordinating the multiple award winning Operation Educate outreach program at the Spartanburg County Detention Center. Her current project for the Northside Initiative provides on-site construction trade training to create a pipeline of potential employees for Spartanburg Regional Health System. A similar program is in the works for Union County. Nannette serves as a Member-At Large on the SCAHCE Board.

All I Ever Learned About Partnerships I Learned From ....Presented by - Sonia Young and Susan SherlockWhether you are on the field, on the stage or in the office, partnerships can make the difference in winning and losing. Find out how working together has opened doors and created opportunities for two divisions that, a few years ago, didn’t even speak to one another.

BIO - Sonia Young is the Director of Corporate & Continuing Education at York Technical College. She has a diverse professional background ranging from organizational development and change management to operations management and sales. She has spent the majority of her career in training and development in both the public and private sector. Mrs. Young is a graduate of Clemson University and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree.

BIO - Susan Sherlock began her career with York Technical College in 1986, but her relationship with the College started much earlier when she saw her older brother obtain a diploma in drafting in the mid-1970s. As a native of Rock Hill, and this early knowledge of the College, Susan naturally looked to York Tech to further her education after high school and obtained Associate Degrees in Engineering Graphics Technology and Civil Engineering Technology. After a time in industry, working with consulting civil engineers, she later completed a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Master of Civil Engineering from Norwich University. Over the past 31 years, Susan has served the College as teaching faculty, Department Chair for Engineering Technologies, Associate Dean of Industrial and Engineering Technologies Division, and most recently, as Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs for the IET Division.

The College of Charleston’s English Language Institute (ELI) has become a regional leader in providing Intensive English Language programming for college–bound international students who have gained conditional admission to a college, but have not met the English language entrance requirements. This session will provide a step-by-step process on how your college can attract more international students by partnering with the College of Charleston ELI in this win-win agreement.

BIO-Alice Hamilton serves as the director of the Center for Continuing and Professional Education. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and has held academic positions at the University of Minnesota, the University of Saskatchewan, the University of New Brunswick, the University of Hawaii, Shanghai Normal University, Hokkai Gakuen University, and Hiroshima University. Dr. Hamilton has enjoyed a lengthy career in international education and most recently served as the International Representative and Program Director of the Maui Language Institute at the University of Hawaii Maui College.
