Our stage 2 students Bailey Drinkwater, Sam Conlan, Claire Burcham and Emily Forster attended Trent Barret Shield (league and league tag) in Griffith on Tuesday. We’d like to thank Rod Evans for doing such a wonderful job ‘assisting’ Mrs Foy in coaching the Small Schools team. Both boys and girls teams made the semi-finals. Congratulations to all on a successful day Thank you to our parent helpers who assist us in a variety of ways. Thanks Kim Rowney for organising to pick up the Life Education Van on Friday! We thank our volunteers for setting up our Barellan Show display next week, those that are transporting children to Riverina Swimming and the Pioneer Action Day, and those that may offer to help at the Rankin Springs’ Gala Day Sept 16. Stage 2 students competed in the Trent Barret Shield on Tuesday (rugby league and league tag)

Tuesday was a beautiful sunny day at Jubilee Oval, for us to play in the Small Schools League Tag team. We played three games. The first game was against Hanwood - they won. In our second game we played Beelbangera and although we improved, we lost that game as well. Our third game was in the semi-final against Lake Cargelligo. It was a hard game and they won. Win or lose we had an awesome day. By Emily and Claire

On Tuesday we played in the Small Schools Rugby League team at the Trent Barret Shield. We played three games. First up we played Lake Wyangan who won 20-4. Then we versed Griffith North and they won 16-8. Finally, we played Hanwood and we lost 24-12. Although we lost all our games we had a great day with our friends - old and new. A big shout out to Rod for coaching us and Mrs Foy for managing the team. By Bailey and Sam

We have 4 students who have reached 40% or more of their targets already – Sam Conlan, Amelia Burcham, Bailey Drinkwater and Greer Geddes. Remember AR is about reading ‘real’ books by accomplished authors and developing comprehension skills in an on-line environment. Keep reading to achieve your individual targets by the end of term. Mack Horton’s real name is Mackenzie. He was the first Australian to win a gold medal this year at the Rio Olympics 2016. He won the 400m freestyle. Mack wears special goggles as he can’t see very well. When he gets out of the water he puts his glasses straight on. By Greer

Did you know all Olympic events aren’t held in Rio? The Matildas played at remote towns in Brazil, like Salvador, 1,500kms away from Rio. This made it hard to communicate and watch other teams perform, as the local TV only showed Brazilian athletes. By Milly B

The men’s basketball team has only lost one game which is a record and puts them in a good spot for a medal position later this week. By Harry and Ella
