Bill & Sandy Damick – TWR Missionaries – Colorado Springs, Colorado Dear Missionary Family, Hello from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Winter is winding to a close here in Colorado (we think), and plans are well underway for our next minifurlough beginning in midMay. The trip over about 6 weeks will encompass nearly 6000 miles by car. It will include church and supporter visits in at least six states, welcoming a new grandson into the world, and attending a family wedding. But we’ve hardly been sitting still over the past few months. Planes, trains and nearly everything else February found me on an eightday trip back to Southeast Asia, combining a short visit with the TWR staff in Singapore with a research conference in Indonesia. TWR’s Singapore Service Center staff is working hard to learn the complexities of intellectual property management related to the hundreds of programs they manage for the radio and internet throughout Asia. My dayandahalf stop there was to provide some practical advice in working through some of the problems they’ve identified and discuss training they might need in the future. It’s encouraging to see their enthusiasm for applying what they’ve learned as they look for more and more opportunities to share God’s word in new and creative ways. From Singapore, I travelled to the island of Batam, in Indonesia, to attend the annual InterSearch research conference, hosted by our colleagues from Far East Broadcasting Company. The conference involved nearly 20 people, from 10 countries and 8 organizations, speaking 5 different first languages. We shared information we’d learned about the world we’re trying to reach and learned new methods for analyzing our audiences and improving the effectiveness of our programming. We also learned about the precarious situations that our colleagues may face in the countries where they serve. One participant told us about an intrusion into his email account by a group hostile to the Gospel, where email addresses were taken and many people contacted and threatened as a result. It was a sobering reminder about how much we all need your prayers for God’s protection. Indonesia was a new country for me to visit, and seeing a little of the countryside and a nearby city, was a good reminder that the Gospel is needed there badly. Even a sticker on the back of a motorcyclist’s helmet was a good reminder to pray for the peoples there. More on page 2 >

Dear Missionary Family, Hello from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  Winter is winding to a close here in Colorado (we think), and plans are well underway for our next mini‐furlough beginning in mid‐May.  The trip over about 6 weeks will encompass nearly 6000 miles by car.  It will include church and supporter visits in at least six states, welcoming a new grandson into the world, and attending a family wedding.  But we’ve hardly been sitting still over the past few months.  Planes, trains and nearly everything else February found me on an eight‐day trip back to Southeast Asia, combining a short visit with the TWR staff in Singapore with a research conference in Indonesia.   TWR’s Singapore Service Center staff is working hard to learn the complexities of intellectual property management related to the hundreds of programs they manage for the radio and internet throughout Asia.  My day‐and‐a‐half stop there was to provide some practical advice in working through some of the problems they’ve identified and discuss training they might need in the future.  It’s encouraging to see their enthusiasm for applying what they’ve learned as they look for more and more opportunities to share God’s word in new and creative ways.

The logistics of a trip, even a comparatively short 20,000‐mile one like this can make your head spin.  In just a week, my TWR colleague, Arnie Remtema, and I rode on seven planes, five taxis, four subway trains, four busses, two ferry boats and two cars.  I’m just glad that we didn’t have to attempt travelling like this family of four in Indonesia.

By the time this letter arrives, I’ll have been to TWR’s offices in North Carolina again, for planning meetings and to talk over some of the challenging issues we continue to face dealing with intellectual property all over the world.  The more I deal with this new role, the more I realize that it’s a critically important part of accelerating TWR’s ministry in this highly‐technical age.  It’s really exciting to see all the new opportunities and new methods to send the Good News all over the world, even though almost every time it means researching the intellectual property concerns these new tools may create for us.

On the home front with Sandy Sandy has been very busy recently, working and travelling for a counseling ministry she volunteers her time with here in Colorado Springs.  Her skills in editing, literature layout, and website design that were learned during our time in Wales have helped to improve many of the resources that Lydia Discipleship Ministries (LDM) provides to churches around the country.  LDM’s ministry specializes in training churches how to work with deeply‐wounded women.  In early March, Sandy attended a national Christian counselors’ conference, held in Indianapolis. She attended training sessions, answered questions about the ministry she works with and provided resources to some of the nearly 300 others who attended.  Please pray for Sandy as she continues this important work.  Please pray:

1. For our mini‐furlough in May and June – for safety on the road, good health during our visits, and many opportunities to share about TWR’s ministry.

2. For our support need  We know we can never say thank you enough.  Please accept our sincere gratitude for your continued love for us and support for our ministry.  God bless you all,     Bill & Sandy Damick TWR 6808 Shimmering Leaf Rd. Colorado Springs, CO 80908  Email: [email protected] & [email protected]  Phone: 719‐571‐9969
