Risk and responsibilities in
“Hyperconnected World – cyber security
 Technological innovation is enabled,
accelerating digitization and creating between
US$ 9.6 trillion and US$ 21.6 trillion in value
over the remainder of this decade. (10-20%)
But a Backlash to digitization from cyber threats
may remove US$ 3 trillion in potential value
creation from these technologies unrealized.
2014 Report
Total Global GDP is approx 90 Trillion est 2013 (CIA World Facts Book)
Warwick Business School
Domains are becoming an increasing
economic issue
 Tax challenges to Digital Economy
..The findings are that there is no such thing as
digital companies rather than digitalisation of
the economy. There may not be therefore a
solution for the digital economy but we will
need to draw on features of digital economy
when we revise the system...
The Organisation for Economic Co-
operation and Development (OECD)

Transforming power of digitization
….The future of employment ?
One recent study (Sept 2013) by academics at Oxford
University suggests that 47% of today’s jobs could be
automated in two decades
…Google now employs 46,000 people. But it takes years
for new industries to grow, whereas the disruption a
startup causes to incumbents is felt sooner. Airbnb may
turn homeowners with spare rooms into entrepreneurs,
but it poses a direct threat to the lower end of the hotel
business—a massive employer.
Warwick Business School
We need to look at the consequences
of this from the other direction

- Features and their characteristics that enable ecosystem compatibility and interoperability
- Revenue Benefits that are derived from managing marketplaces and connectivity and access to communities and operating systems
- Brand protection and development as competition and ingress into existing market share is under attack potentially from substitution and cannibalization from new scalable modular solutions and public and hybrid systems that have lower entry and adoption barriers into and across their platform and own ecosystem services.
- Motivation benefits from driving and access skills and compliance and security preservation and the exploitation of innovators and new portfolio opportunities.

Conclusions Competition is at the ecosystems level defined by
Domains
Real Big data competitive advantage needs to be defined
in a domain context, not just orchestrator sales products
or solutions.
Rise of modular architectures and scalable (generative)
platforms will enable new forms of competition at
Domain level 2015 onward – needs new Governance and
metrics
Existing Industry players and new innovators market
share will be significantly impact by their ability to work
across ecosystems and define domain workspace
