About Big Brother, Big Sister Programs

Children and teenagers who are involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs often come from challenging home situations that can include poverty, single-parent households, military families, and homes where one parent is incarcerated. Outcome surveys show that after one year in the program, a majority of children who were mentored improved in areas such as social acceptance, attitude toward risky behaviors, parental trust, and educational expectations.

Conclusion

Big Brothers Big Sisters is growing and reaching

more people by reconnecting with the large

network of people who have been involved with its

programs. The organization’s “Start Something”

initiative aims to expand alumni clubs and involve

more alumni in special events and activities so that

they can support Big Brothers Big Sisters and
