    Aston Science Park, was founded in 1982 and has been one of the premier scienceparks in the UK ever since. Now, in 2009, the park has been rebranded, providing aclear statement of its intent to drive its new strategy.

    At a time when the knowledge economy is seen a key factor in moving the UK out ofrecession, Birmingham Science Park Aston initiatives are championing and catalysingthe innovation economy of Birmingham and the Region. We are owned byBirmingham City Council, but we also look to work in partnership with the Council to

    help shape and drive its innovation agenda within the Big City Plan.

    Directly, and through partnership, Birmingham Science Park Aston provides acomplete infrastructure to support innovators and entrepreneurs helping them delivertheir aspirations and drive their high-tech services and products towards the marketplace.

    Birmingham Science Park Aston is more than a geographic location. We aredeveloping a flexible, highly connected and collaborative culture; an environmentwhere people with ideas meet people with experience and people with investmentfunds. Connectivity is driven by face-to-face meetings within our facilities, at ourevents and increasingly, as we develop our activities to drive the low carbon agenda

    through smart work environments, in virtual space. The virtual offering will create acentral hub, linking to regional nodes and other national and international hubs, togenerate virtual clusters of expertise to aid and promote high-tech, high growthbusinesses; wealth creation leading to new high value jobs.

    We do not want to compete, or re-invent the wheel, so Birmingham Science ParkAston is keen to develop new partnerships with individuals and organisations in allaspects of its offering.

    A New Look and New Direction for the Science Park

    After 27 years of successful operation Aston Science Park has been tasked withdelivering a new vision. The new strategy will see it evolve and redirect its activity tofocus on support for the Regions high-tech start-up and early-stage businesses.

    A major re-launch is planned for the autumn of this year, but as an early statement ofthis intent to drive a Birmingham focussed agenda, the Science Park is now officiallychanging its name and introducing its new look logo:

    All of the events that we host here at Birmingham Science Park Aston are dynamic, toensure that there is something for everyone whether it be an exhibition area to takea glance around or a conference or seminar style offering, allowing delegates theopportunity to hear more from the business people of the region.

    Moving forward with and in support of the future vision of Birmingham Science ParkAston, the Events team will be working hard to deliver an even further diversified mixof events for our clients.     business networking seminars, hosted by Birmingham Science Park Aston since 2004,and as such has a track record of success in bringing businesses together in aprofessional working environment.

    Photonics Cluster (UK), located at Birmingham Science Park Aston in the heart of theBirmingham was formed in 2000 and is located on the Science Park in the heart ofBirmingham.

    The organisation has successfully completed projects with over 600 companies andhas leveraged funding to assist the industry. Photonics Cluster (UK) works with clientsin photonic applications ranging from the infra-red through to the visible and theultra-violet in industries as diverse as transport, defence and security, medical andfood sciences, ICT, precision engineering and Research & Development Assistancecommunications.

    Entrepreneurs For The Future Centre

    A dedicated facility helping the next generation ofentrepreneurs to get started and achieve their commercialaspirations

    The EFFC brings together graduate and postdoctoral technologists and MBA studentsfrom around the City Region and links them with experienced management andbusiness leaders.

    euroLED Europes Leading Conference, Exhibition and Gala Dinner in Solid State

    Lighting, organised by Birmingham Science Park Aston is currently in its seventh year.Hosted in the West Midlands, euroLED attracts delegates from all corners of the globeto participate in this industry led event.

    euroLED offers a unique opportunity for global organisations to penetrate, expandand understand the European and global LED and Solid State Lighting market, andcontinually generates exceptional participation and support from some of the leadingorganisations within the industry.

    Bridge to Growth Soft Landing at BIRMINGHAM BIC

    Bridge to Growth is an innovative route for foreign owned companies to establishthemselves in the UK market. It is cooperation between EBS, Advantage WestMidlands and an increasing number of private sector companies providing free andreduced cost services to help minimise risk and maximise progress. Bridge to Growthhas been developed exclusively for foreign owned businesses establishing themselvesand intending to employ personnel in the West Midlands Region, which is based

    around Birmingham.

    Birmingham BIC is one of two principal property partners providing softlanding accommodation for the inward investment clients. This comprises6 months rent free accommodation. Services and utilities used are charged.

    EBS has been working with foreign owned companiesestablishing themselves in the UK since 1991, andtherefore has many years experience of the issues whichare common to this kind of establishment. EBS focusesexclusively on foreign owned companies as clients, and sohas much experience of the wide variety of questionswhich can arise when entering a new market.

    The Bridge to Growth package is specifically designed withforeign owned companies in mind, reducing risk andproviding readymade solutions to the usual issues,situations, problems and tasks which are part of anexpansion into a new market.

    not go well?

    Bridge to Growth gives you the security that you are not tied into long termagreements when you start your business in the UK. Everything is on very short termarrangements and even the car and office leases can be ended after 6 months withno penalty cost. The employment laws in the UK mean that you can end even thesearrangements and take away any employed people easily in the first year, but youmust take legal advice to do this properly.

    There is no "tie-in", or obligation to stay. You can leave the program at any time andfor any reason, and you will not be charged for any of the free benefits you havealready received, including the free limited company. If you have made any separate

    agreements with our partners to provide services you must of course keep to theseagreements.

It is cooperation between EBS, Advantage WestMidlands and an increasing number of private sector companies providing free andreduced cost services to help minimise risk and maximise progress. Bridge to Growthhas been developed exclusively for foreign owned businesses establishing themselvesand intending to employ personnel in the West Midlands Region, which is based

    Birmingham BIC is one of two principal property partners providing softlanding accommodation for the inward investment clients. This comprises6 months rent free accommodation. Services and utilities used are charged.
