Walk in any chiropractic libraryand you will find a collection ofbooks and journals that discussa variety of chiropractic tech-niques. How eve r, if you aresearching for specific tech-niques, it could take hours to gothrough the chiropractic data-bases and the indexes to va r i o u sbooks. Time is of the essenceto most chiropractors and stu-dents. Wo u l d n ’t it be wo n d e r f u lto have all the basic informationon techniques in one source?
D i s c u s s i o n
This bibliography of chiroprac-tic and orthopedic techniques
was put together to fill a needwithin the chiropractic profes-sion. Bergmann, Peterson andL awrence (1) list 97 named chi-ropractic techniques, and thisnumber will no doubt increasewith time. In fact, Nelson hadfacetiously suggested that chiro-practors should have the oppor-tunity to develop and marke ttheir own technique (2). Itoften seems as though this hasalready happened in the profes-sion, yet so often it is nearlyimpossible to find informationon many of the techniquesfound on Berg m a n n ’s list ore l s ewhere. Some techniquesused today are only taught atseminars, while others are writ-ten up in various books andjournals. Still others have diedalong with their deve l o p e r s ,who left no written accounts.
This present list was deve l o p e dto save time for the student, chi-r o p r a c t o r, or librarian whoneeds to research specific tech-niques. It covers a few majorsources to help researchers getstarted in their work. It alsoc overs some osteopathic tech-niques that may be of interest tochiropractors. A hand searchwas done of various mono-

graphs and databases for each ofthe named techniques. Somecould only be found on theInternet, while others were notfound at all. Those mentionedonly in seminars and not founde l s ewhere are not listed in thisb i b l i o g r a p hy. Since the Internetis constantly evolving and manysites change frequently or are notkept up-to-date, internet siteswere also not listed in the bibli-o g r a p hy. How eve r, one site ofimportance is “Full SpineDiscussion Page - Te c h n i q u e s ”found at http://chiropractor- d o c-tors.com/techniquelist.html. T h emoderators of this page are ask-ing for help from the chiropracticprofession in locating informa-tion about more than 100 namedtechniques and their deve l o p e r s .T h ey are then inputting thisinformation on their web page.Another site wo r t hy of mentionis http://www.dogpile.com/. Usethe search key “chiropracticAND seminars” to bring up hun-dreds of sites directing you tovarious chiropractic techniques e m i n a r s .
C o n c l u s i o n
I remind the reader that this isonly the tip of the iceberg. T h e r eare hundreds of chiropracticbooks, constantly evolving websites, new and developing semi-nars, and even family and friendsstill using techniques deve l o p e d
by deceased practitioners. All ofthese sources can be used inresearching the many chiroprac-tic techniques out there. A n dwo u l d n ’t it be useful if a diction-ary could give a synopsis, thed evelopers, the relationships toother techniques, and sources forcurrent information? I hope thisb i b l i o g r a p hy serves as a startingpoint for such a tex t .
