When you support the Bible Society of Maine with your prayers and financial giving, there is no limit on how God can use those investments beyond your wildest imaginations.

Consider the lives affected by our weekly Bible Study ministry at the Cumberland County Jail (CCJ). In the past five months, we have been able to share the gospel and bring life-transforming teaching to over 80 men. These “loved of God” individuals look forward to hearing the Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to work deeply in their broken lives.

Along with meeting face-to-face with the incarcerated, BSM distributes free-of-charge Bibles and related scripture materials to CCJ, Maine Correctional Center, Maine State Prison, Long Creek Youth Development Center, and other

facilities within the state correctional system.

YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE !

Recently, we were able to ship hundreds of Bibles to our

ministry partner, Love Packages. They will send these to people around the world, hungry for the scriptures. Within that

shipment are Bibles in 40 languages from Spanish to

Russian, Eskimo to Arabic... and everything in between. We will see,

in eternity, what great rewards are reaped by souls saved through the written Word of God.

The face of Greater Portland is changing monthly as refugees and asylum-seekers from Africa and other parts of the world arrive in the area.BSM

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully.  It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. •••

The English Second Language (ASL) class held twice-a-week at Portland’s Salvation Army office has been the connecting point to meet and supply the Bibles to eager students.

Again, working with ministry partners like Love Packages (internationally), prison chaplaincies (statewide) and ESL (Greater Portland), BSM is tapping into the synergy (working together) that can be achieved for the Kingdom of God.
