Menahem paid tribute to Assyria in Assyria invasion, He was also founder of the dynasty known as the House of Gadi or House of Menahem.

Menahem marched from Tirzah to Samaria, about six miles where Menahem attacked Samaria and took the city. (2 King 15:13)

  • He also sacked Tappuah and the people within the territory of the people. He then traveled from Tirzah and so on, but no one welcomed him. So he attacked them and ripped open the stomach of women who were pregnant in that land.

He attacked them because they did not accept him to be king and this caused him to attack Tappuah and other communities surrounding it.

  • One day Assyria came against Menahem and the land. Menahem gave Pul a thosand talents of silver so that he can keep his rule. (2 Kings 15:19)

Menahem took the money from Israel. The money was from the wealthy men of Israel. Sometime later he took fifty shekels of silver from each man to give to Pul king of assyria. (2 Kings 15:19)

When Menahem gave the king the money the king left from the the land and did not ask anything else from him. (2 Kings 15:19)
