y PANENZA is a suspension for injection in a multi-dose vial(10 doses of 0.5ml) - Pack of 10 vials. The suspension is a
colourless liquid, clear to opalescent.
y V accine administration : One dose (0.5 ml) intramuscular.
y Storage :Store in a refrigerator (2 0C 80C). D o not freeze .Keep the vial in the carton in order to protect from light. After first opening, use PANENZA within 7 days if stored ina refrigerator (2 0C 80C).

Indian Prospective A. India's first Self manufactured swine flu vaccine
V axiflu-S, has been manufactured by pharmaceutical major Cadila Healthcare on June 4,
2010 and is an egg-based, single dosed vaccine.y Its side effects, are minor which include fever, aches,
mild soreness. However, one in a million could beexposed to the risk of the Guillain Barre S yndrome - a
rare neurological disorder.y For now, the vaccine is meant only for those above the
age of 18. Trials for use by children will start now.

B. Pune sSerum Institute of India ( SII) launched aready-to-sniff intra-nasal vaccine, Nasovac ,on 15th July, 2010.
y It is a nasal spray in powder form, which has to be
reconstituted by adding water.y A single dose of 0.5ml of the vaccine is delivereddirectly to the nasal cavity through a device fitted atthe top of the syringe.
y
The body develops antibodies to protect against thedeadly virus for a period of over a year or even more.y According to experts, It has the efficiency to fight H1N1
infection even if small changes occur in the virus.

y The vaccine has been approved by the Drug Controllerof India (DCG I) and can be safely administered to any individual above three years .
y However, SII is not recommending the vaccine forpregnant women and lactating mothers.
