3. Paul Rusconi Custom Art - ''Standard Issue''Paul Rusconi (b. 1965, American) was raised in Santa Cruz, California and studied at PepperdineUniversity. He is now living and working in Los Angeles. Rusconis work is often comprised oportraits, usually of those who make up and influence popular culture, ranging from musicians andartists, to poets and politicians. His first solo exhibition,American Boarders, was at the Stellan HolmGallery in New York. The artists fascination with the portrait has an obvious connection to the worksof Andy Warhol. Rusconis other influences include Robert Rauschenberg, Chuck Close, Sol LeWitand Ed Ruscha. Rusconis investigation and interest in the portrait begins with his own photo-basedimages as well as found or sourced materials. His work is a process of hand applying nail polish onto

Plexiglas often combined with an additional layer of Plexiglas with engine enamel and/or acrylic,which allows for a shadow image to be projected on the substrate. Closely observing the surface, onecan see that it is comprised of a pattern that recalls the Benday dots of Roy Lichtenstein.
