• Launched by Hon’ble P.M on 22nd January, 2015 to address the decline inChild Sex Ratio and related issues of disempowerment of Women
• Convergent, coordinated action, by GOI & the States, between Ministries ofHealth, HRD, WCD
• Objectives:
Prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination
Ensuring survival and protection of the girl child
Ensuring education and participation of the girl child
• Major Components:
Mindset changes - advocacy & awareness
Implementation of the Pre Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC&PNDT Act)
Enabling Girl Child’s Education
• Multi-sectoral action in 100 districts covering all States/UTs; Expanded to 61 additional districts across 11 States led by DCs/DMs

Advocacy and Media Campaign at PAN India level follows a 360 degree approach with messages on positive reinforcement of girl child
Special Campaigns /drives like slogan writing competition on MyGov, #SelfieWithDaughters, #SunoMaaKiKahaani

Gains by BBBP thus Far
• Positive trend observed in Sex Ratio at Birth in 104 BBBP Districts out of 161
• Institutional delivery improved in 146 districts
• First trimester ANC registration improved in 119 districts

• State Task Force Meeting to be held -at least twice in a year ; District TaskForce once in a quarter
• Revalidation request and UC & SOE for the GIA released during 2016-17• District Action Plan (DAP) for 2017-18 to be submitted by States/UTs;
