STATEMENT OF FAITH . . . The Apostles’ Creed We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He arose from the dead, He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church Universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.

The Mission of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical,
emotional and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed. At every
level of the connection and in every local church, the African Methodist Episcopal Church shall engage in carrying out the
spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Church evolved: that is, to seek out and save the lost, and
serve the needy through a continuing program of (1) preaching the gospel, (2) feeding the hungry, (3) clothing the naked, (4)
housing the homeless, (5) cheering the fallen, (6) providing jobs for the jobless, (7) administering to the needs of those in
prison, hospitals, nursing homes, asylums and mental institutions, senior citizens’ homes; caring for the sick, the shut-in, the
mentally and socially disturbed, and (8) encouraging thrift and economic advancement.

THE PRAYER
THE CHORAL RESPONSE Bethel B.A.S.I.C. Gospel Choir
“Your Love Is” Fred Hammond
Beyond what I can think, You go beyond my hopes and highest expectations
The love You’ve shown on Calvary forever always pursuing me, relentlessly
I’m crying please, open up the heavens.
Let me feel Your shower, the shower of Your presence every moment of each hour.
Lord, take my hand, cover me and Take me beyond what I understand
Renewing and refreshing. Vital and life-giving.
Comforting and blessing. That’s what Your love is;
A place where I can run to; a tower and a shelter.
Forgiving us forever; that’s what I’m talking about
Whenever I feel Your love on me, the tears begin to flow.
I let myself go and then I know. Your love is here, Your love, oh, Lord.
Whenever I feel Your warm embrace like the warm sun on my face—
Your presence in this place. It let’s me know Your love is here. Your love, oh, Lord
THE GENERAL CONFESSION Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men,
we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness which we from time to
time most grievously have committed by thought, word and deed against Your divine
Majesty, provoking most justly Your wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly
repent and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is
grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father for Your
Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake; forgive us all that is past and grant that we may ever
hereafter serve and please You in newness of life, to the honor and glory of Your name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

THE SCRIPTURE Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30 New Revised Standard Edition
16 "But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and
calling to one another, . 17 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.' . 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon'; . 19 the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a glutton and a drunkard,
a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds." . 25 At that time Jesus said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have
hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; . 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. . 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except
the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son
chooses to reveal him. . 28 "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. . 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls. . 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." .
